JOB DESCRIPTION ASSISTANT MANAGER APPAREL PRODUCTION & QUALITY CONTROL @ CHENNAI

Location: Chennai ( under sourcing so will be maximum vendor location in process time )

Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Manager – Apparel Production & Quality Control to manage the complete apparel production process from design and sample development through material sourcing, bulk production, 100% quality inspection, and final delivery.

The candidate should have strong experience in sportswear/activewear production, preferably with brands or manufacturers supplying to Decathlon, Technosport, or similar sports and performance-wear brands.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage the complete production cycle from design development to final delivery.

- Coordinate with the Design & Development team for new styles, samples, specifications, measurements, corrections, and approvals.

- Follow up on sample development and approval within the agreed timeline.

- Coordinate and follow up for fabric, trims, accessories, printing, embroidery, labels, packaging, and other materials required for production.

- Ensure timely availability of all materials before bulk production starts.

- Prepare and monitor production plans, T&A; timelines, and delivery schedules.

- Closely follow up with factories/vendors on daily and weekly production status.

- Identify potential production delays and take corrective action to ensure on-time delivery.

- Conduct/coordinate 100% quality inspection of finished products before dispatch.

- Ensure products meet approved samples, measurements, specifications, workmanship, colour, fabric, stitching, printing, finishing, and packaging standards.





- Monitor quality at different stages of production and not only during final inspection.

- Identify defects and coordinate with vendors for rework, correction, replacement, or rejection.

- Maintain proper QC reports, production reports, sample records, approval records, and delivery status.

- Visit factories/vendors regularly for production monitoring and quality inspection.

- Coordinate with Design, Sourcing, Purchase, Warehouse, Sales, and Management for smooth execution.

- Support current vendor development and vendor evaluation based on quality, capacity, cost, and delivery performance.

- Escalate critical production, quality, material, and delivery issues to management with suitable solutions.

- Ensure all products are delivered on time with required quality and quantity.

Sportswear / Activewear Experience – Preferred

Candidates with experience in sportswear, activewear, performance wear, or athleisure apparel will be strongly preferred.

Experience with Decathlon, Technosport, or similar sportswear brands/manufacturers will be an added advantage.

The candidate should have good knowledge of:

- Sports T-shirts, shorts, track pants, jerseys, training wear, cricket/badminton apparel, and other activewear.

- Functional and performance fabrics, moisture-wicking fabrics, polyester, spandex/elastane, mesh, etc.

- Sublimation, heat transfer, printing, embroidery, flatlock/coverstitch, elastic, trims, and technical stitching.

- Fabric/GSM requirements, colour standards, measurement tolerances, technical specifications, and approved sample standards.





- Sportswear-specific fit, workmanship, finishing, durability, and quality requirements.

Candidate Profile

- Diploma/Degree in Apparel, Fashion, Textile, Garment Technology, or a related field.

- 5–8 years of relevant experience in apparel production and quality control.

- Strong experience in sportswear/activewear production and vendor management preferred.

- Good knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, trims, stitching, printing, embroidery, finishing, and quality standards.

- Strong production planning and vendor follow-up skills.

- Good communication, negotiation, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to handle multiple styles, vendors, samples, and production timelines simultaneously.

- Willingness to travel to factories/vendors when required.

- Good working knowledge of MS Excel, production tracking, and QC documentation.

- Strong ownership and ability to independently follow up from sample stage to final delivery.

2. Minimum production defects, rejection, and customer complaints.

3. On-time sample development and approval.

4. On-time material availability.

5. On-time production completion and delivery.

6. Effective vendor follow-up and timely issue resolution.

7. Reduction in rework, rejection, production delays, and quality complaints.

8. Accurate and timely production and QC reporting.

The ideal candidate should be capable of independently managing sportswear/activewear production from design and sample development through material sourcing, bulk production, 100% quality inspection, and final delivery, with strong ownership of quality, production timelines, vendor coordination, and on-time delivery.
