Key Responsibilities

​Lathe Operations: Perform operations including straight turning, taper turning, facing, knurling, grooving, parting off, and thread cutting (internal & external).

​Machine Setup: Mount raw materials securely in chucks or collets and select appropriate cutting tools, feed rates, and spindle speeds.

​Blueprint & Tolerance Adherence: Manufacture cylindrical components (shafts, pins, bushings, pulleys) according to strict engineering dimensions.

​Tool Maintenance: Grind and sharpen single-point high-speed steel (HSS) and carbide cutting tools.

​Quality & Quality Checks: Continuously monitor surface finish and verify dimensions using micrometers, bore gauges, and thread plug gauges.

Key Responsibilities

​Assembly & Fitting: Assemble machinery parts, sub-assemblies,



and mechanical structures using bolts, screws, dowels, and rivets.

​Component Testing & Filing: Mark, file, saw, drill, and scrape metal pieces to exact fits (pipe fitting, machine fitting, structural fitting).

​Blueprint Reading: Interpret mechanical drawings, engineering schematics, and geometric tolerance specifications.

​Maintenance & Repair: Diagnose mechanical breakdowns, overhaul worn-out components, and perform routine preventative maintenance on plant equipment.

​Precision Measurement: Use measuring instruments such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, dial gauges, and height gauges.
