Technical Manager (POD TM)

Atlassian Delivery

12+ Years Experience | India · SEA · MENA | Delivery Leadership

About the Role

We are hiring a Technical Manager to own an Atlassian POD end to end: its projects, its people, its profitability and its presales support. This is a delivery leadership role with real technical depth, not a coordination role.

You will lead a team of Atlassian consultants across several concurrent implementations, Cloud migrations and JSM/ITSM rollouts. You will be accountable for the POD's gross margin, OBU, utilization and revenue forecast, and for keeping committed effort within the price we quoted.

You will also work alongside the Pre-sales team on solution approach, estimates, proposals and customer demos, then carry those engagements through to closure. Customers should see you as the person who understands both their Atlassian platform and their delivery status.

Key Responsibilities

- Atlassian Delivery and Technical Leadership

- Own end-to-end delivery of Atlassian engagements: Cloud implementations, Data Center-to-Cloud and Cloud-to-Cloud migrations, JSM/ITSM rollouts, PPM setups and platform optimization.
- Guide consultants on solution design across Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Confluence, Assets, Atlassian Guard, Jira Automation and Marketplace apps such as ScriptRunner, Xray, Tempo, BigPicture and eazyBI.
- Govern migrations through assessment, test migrations, validation, cutover and post-migration stabilization.
- Review technical deliverables (configurations, scripts, integrations, documentation) against acceptance criteria and Definition of Done before customer sign-off.
- Uphold platform governance and security practices: SAML SSO, SCIM provisioning, permission schemes and access controls.
- Identify and apply AI use cases in delivery and in customer solutions, including Atlassian Rovo (Search, Chat, Agents) and Atlassian Intelligence.
- Facilitate technical discussions and remove blockers so the team stays productive.

2. POD Leadership and Resource Management
- Allocate and schedule the POD's consultants across concurrent projects, balancing workload, skills and billability.
- Plan capacity against the confirmed and probable pipeline; flag bench and shortfalls to the Delivery Manager early.
- Coordinate with the shared delivery pool for specialist skills and peak-demand cover.
- Mentor consultants, run skill-gap reviews and drive certifications such as Atlassian Certified Professional (ACP).
- Set goals, give regular feedback and contribute to performance appraisals, hiring and onboarding for the POD.

3. Financial Governance and KPI Ownership The Technical Manager is accountable for the following POD and project numbers, reviewed with the Delivery Manager and Finance:
- Project margin and GM1, GM2, GM3 — Protect margin through effort control, the right staffing mix and timely change requests.
- OBU (Optimal Billing Utilization) — Keep billable allocation at target and minimize unbilled effort.

- Resource utilization — Track weekly, redeploy bench capacity and balance load across projects.
- Revenue forecast vs actual — Maintain the monthly forecast by project and milestone; explain variance and agree a recovery plan.
- Milestone and revenue recognition — Validate milestone completion and customer sign-off with Finance.
- Effort variance on fixed-price work — Track burn against estimate and control scope creep before it erodes margin.
- Delivery health — Schedule adherence, effort variance, velocity, defect density and customer satisfaction.
- Review SoWs and change requests for scope alignment and commercial viability.
- Conduct root cause analysis for margin, effort or schedule variances and drive corrective action with the team.

4. Pre-sales Collaboration
- Partner with the Pre-sales team on discovery, solution approach, effort estimation, staffing plans and delivery assumptions for proposals and RFPs.
- Prepare and run customer demos and solution walkthroughs on Jira, JSM, Confluence, Assets and Rovo.
- Validate scope, assumptions and risks before a proposal goes out, so the committed effort can be delivered at target margin.
- Own a clean handover from Pre-sales into delivery, and carry the engagement from proposal through closure.
- Identify account-growth and upsell opportunities with Sales and Pre-sales.

5. Project Planning and Execution
- Own the lifecycle of multiple concurrent projects, typically 2–6 months each.
- Build project plans, milestones and dependency tracking in Jira and Confluence.
- Manage scope, schedule and resources against committed timelines, using Agile, Waterfall or hybrid models as the engagement needs.
- Maintain risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies, with mitigation plans that act before problems escalate.

6. Customer and Stakeholder Management
- Lead customer status meetings, stand-ups and steering reviews, and earn the customer's confidence in delivery progress.
- Manage expectations on scope changes, risks and timeline impact, backed by technical understanding.
- Handle escalations and keep the customer aligned on corrective actions.
- Produce status reports and governance documentation for customers and internal leadership.

Required Skills & Experience:
- 12+ years of IT experience, including at least 5 years in technical project or delivery management.
- 5+ years in the Atlassian ecosystem, hands-on or as a delivery lead: Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Confluence, Assets, Atlassian Cloud administration and Atlassian Guard.
- Proven delivery of Atlassian Cloud migrations (Data Center-to-Cloud or Cloud-to-Cloud)

and JSM/ITSM implementations for enterprise customers.
- Fluency in Atlassian solution areas and terminology: ITSM, ESM, PPM, Agile delivery, workflows, schemes and Marketplace apps.
- Enough automation and integration knowledge to review designs and estimates: Jira Automation, REST APIs, ScriptRunner or Groovy.
- Working understanding of delivery financials: project margin, GM1, GM2, GM3, OBU, resource utilization and forecast vs actual revenue.
- Experience leading a delivery team or POD across concurrent projects, including allocation, mentoring and performance feedback.
- Experience working with Pre-sales on proposals, RFP responses, effort estimates and customer demos.
- Strong grasp of Agile (Scrum, Kanban), Waterfall and hybrid delivery models.
- Awareness of AI in the Atlassian platform, including Rovo and Atlassian Intelligence, and how to position it with customers.
- Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills in client-facing roles.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.

Must-Have Skills:

Candidates must show all of the following:

1. Atlassian expertise: Jira, JSM, Confluence, Assets, Cloud administration and migrations, with ITSM and PPM terminology.
2. 12+ years of IT experience, with 5+ years in technical project or delivery management.
3. Financial and KPI ownership: project margin, GM1–GM3, OBU, resource utilization and revenue forecast vs actual tracking.
4. Resource management as a POD TM: allocation, capacity planning, bench management and team mentoring.
5. Pre-sales collaboration: proposals, effort estimation and customer demos, plus ownership from pre-sales through delivery completion.
6. Project planning and execution across scope, schedule and resources for multiple concurrent projects.
7. Risk management, root cause analysis and variance tracking.
8. Stakeholder communication, status reporting and governance documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

- Project management certification: PMP, PRINCE2, or Certified ScrumMaster (CSM).
- Atlassian Certified Qualified (ACP) certifications.
- ITIL certification, particularly for JSM and ITSM engagements.
- AWS Cloud Practitioner or Solutions Architect certification.
- Conceptual understanding of Atlassian Forge, and when it fits better than native configuration or a Marketplace app.
- Experience delivering for customers in India, SEA or MENA.
- Exposure to AWS, DevOps or Monday.com delivery for cross-POD engagements.

Why Join Us?
- Lead a POD with real ownership of delivery, people and profitability.
- Deliver enterprise Atlassian Cloud transformations and migrations for customers across India, SEA and MENA.
- Bring Atlassian Rovo and AI-driven solutions to customers and into how we deliver.
- Work closely with Pre-sales, Sales and delivery leadership, with direct visibility of your impact.
- Certification support, continuous learning and a clear path to senior delivery leadership.
