Technical Lead, CPaaS Platform About the role We are hiring a Technical Lead to drive the architecture and engineering quality of our CPaaS platform. The platform lets businesses message their customers over WhatsApp, SMS, RCS, Instagram and voice from one API, one inbox and one automation builder. You will design the backend systems that move millions of messages reliably and bill for them correctly.

You are also expected to be comfortable in the frontend, where customers build campaigns, flows and templates. This is a hands-on role: you will write code most weeks, lead design reviews, and help grow a small team of backend and full stack engineers.

What you'll do

Backend architecture and design Drive the design of core services:

messaging send and receive, delivery receipts, contacts, campaigns, workflow automation, integrations and billing.

Design for high-volume, event-driven traffic:

idempotent sends, retries with backoff, outbox patterns, at-least-once delivery and correct reconciliation of delivery status. Shape multi-tenant data models with strong isolation (row-level security, scoped credentials, per-org limits). Define clean contracts between services and with telecom and messaging providers, and keep them versioned and tested. Write and review design docs and ADRs; make trade-offs explicit and choose options that hold up as we scale.

Frontend and product

Review and contribute to our web app and admin panel: campaign builder, flow builder, inbox, template management and billing screens. Make sure APIs serve the UI well: pagination, optimistic updates, error states and real time updates. Work with product and design to turn fuzzy requirements into a buildable, phased plan.

Engineering leadership

Lead and mentor a team of 3–5 engineers; run design and code reviews,



and take part in technical hiring. Set standards for testing, CI gates, observability and secure coding, and keep them enforced in the pipeline rather than by memory. Help own production health: on-call practice, incident response, blameless postmortems and SLOs for send latency and delivery. Partner with DevOps on cloud infrastructure, deploys and cost.

What we're looking for

Backend design (the core of this role)

5+ years building production backend systems, with some experience leading a small team or owning a major component end to end. Strong experience with TypeScript/Node.js (NestJS preferred), or strong Go/Java/Kotlin with willingness to work in TypeScript.

Solid PostgreSQL: schema design, indexing, query plans, transactions, migrations on live tables. Hands-on experience with event streaming and queues (Kafka or similar): partitioning, ordering, consumer lag, dead-letter handling. Distributed-systems judgement: idempotency, exactly-once vs at-least-once, race conditions, back-pressure, rate limiting.

Experience designing multi-tenant SaaS: tenant isolation, authn/authz (JWT, RBAC), audit trails. Has shipped and run services on a public cloud (GCP preferred) with containers, CI/CD and infrastructure as code.

Solid observability practice: structured logs, metrics, tracing, alerting you actually act on.

Frontend fluency

Working knowledge of React and Next.js: can read, review and ship features,



not just consume APIs. Understands state management, data fetching and caching, forms, and accessibility basics. Can spot when a UI problem is really an API problem, and fix it at the right layer. Leadership and ways of working Writes clear design docs and explains trade-offs to engineers and non-engineers.

Reviews code for correctness first: edge cases, concurrency, failure modes, security Values tests that can actually fail, and verifies behaviour in real environments before declaring done. Comfortable with ambiguity and fast-moving priorities in an early-stage product.

Nice to have

CPaaS, telecom or messaging experience:

WhatsApp Business API, SMS aggregators, RCS, DLT registration in India, or delivery-report handling. Workflow orchestration (Temporal or similar) for long-running automations and scheduled journeys. Usage-based billing: wallets, prepaid credits, metering, payment-gateway webhooks. Integrations with commerce and CRM platforms (Shopify, WooCommerce, Meta lead ads) via OAuth and webhooks.

Security depth: secrets management, KMS, webhook signature verification, dependency and supply-chain hygiene. Load testing and capacity planning for bursty campaign traffic.

Experience using AI coding tools well, with review and guardrails in place.
