Job Summary

We are looking for a System Engineer to join our Android Platform Engineering team and build, customize, and maintain a custom Android Operating System based on AOSP for enterprise devices.

This is a hands-on AOSP and Android platform engineering role, involving work across the Android Framework, native system services, Linux kernel, system applications, security, and OS-level debugging. The role is focused on platform-level development rather than application-layer Android development.

You will work closely with application, QA, and product teams to deliver a secure, stable, performant, and enterprise-ready Android OS tailored to specific hardware and business requirements.

Roles & Responsibilities

- Build, customize, maintain, and release a custom Android OS from AOSP source for enterprise devices.
- Develop and customize Android Framework components, native system services, and system applications.
- Integrate and customize Android platform components to support new hardware capabilities and enterprise requirements.
- Analyze and resolve complex OS-level, framework, kernel, and system-service issues through root cause analysis.
- Deliver permanent fixes for system issues rather than application-level workarounds.
- Optimize OS performance, stability, memory usage, CPU utilization, and overall resource consumption.
- Work with hardware teams to troubleshoot device, driver, kernel, and platform integration issues.
- Collaborate with application, QA, product,



and other engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to platform architecture and technical design discussions.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for platform customizations, system behavior, troubleshooting procedures, and architecture.
- Support platform releases, debugging, and issue resolution for devices deployed in the field.

Required Skills & Experience

- Strong understanding of Operating System concepts, including:
- Process and thread management
- Memory management
- CPU scheduling
- Synchronization and concurrency
- File systems
- Inter-Process Communication (IPC)
- Good understanding of Linux fundamentals, including kernel concepts.
- Hands-on experience with Android platform/AOSP internals.
- Knowledge of the Android boot process, init, init scripts, and system startup.
- Solid experience with Linux command-line tools and system administration.
- Experience debugging system-level issues using tools such as:
- ADB
- Logcat
- GDB
- Android Studio
- Linux debugging and diagnostic tools
- Good understanding of Git and software configuration management.
- Strong analytical, debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.




- Good understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies.
- Ability to investigate complex issues across multiple layers of the Android platform and identify the root cause.

Good to Have

- Experience with Android OTA update mechanisms, including:
- A/B seamless updates
- update_engine
- OTA package generation and deployment
- Experience with Android release engineering, including signing, provisioning, and build/release processes.
- Knowledge of Android security architecture, including:
- Verified Boot
- Secure Boot
- Android application and system security
- Knowledge of Java/Kotlin for Android Framework, system service, or system application development.
- Experience with Android build systems, AOSP build configuration, and platform bring-up.
- Experience working with custom Android hardware/device bring-up.
- Exposure to enterprise Android, Android Enterprise, or device management/MDM solutions.

Educational Qualification

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, Embedded Systems, Information Technology, or a related engineering discipline.
