1. Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and technically competent SMT Section Manager to oversee SMT and Secondary Equipment (SE) operations at our electronics manufacturing facility. The candidate will be responsible for production performance, equipment reliability, preventive maintenance, quality improvement, manpower management, audit compliance, and continuous improvement to ensure efficient and reliable manufacturing operations.
1. Key Responsibilities

- Manage daily SMT production operations to achieve production targets, quality standards, and delivery schedules.
- Oversee SMT line setup, model changeovers, feeder setup, stencil preparation, and production readiness.
- Ensure effective operation of SMT equipment, including solder paste printers, pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, SPI, and AOI systems.
- Review and control preventive maintenance (PM) schedules and execution for SMT and Secondary Equipment (SE) sections.
- Monitor and optimize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), line efficiency, UPH, yield, downtime, and rejection rates.
- Lead the team in minimizing equipment failures, reducing rejection rates, and eliminating production bottlenecks.
- Review Root Cause Analysis (RCA) reports for critical equipment failures and approve long-term corrective actions and equipment upgrade projects.
- Coordinate with Process Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Material Planning teams to resolve production and equipment-related issues.
- Analyze SMT defects, including solder bridging, tombstoning, insufficient solder, component misplacement, and other soldering defects, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure proper implementation of process controls, SOPs, work instructions, and quality standards.
- Manage manpower allocation, shift planning, operator training, performance monitoring,



and technical evaluations.
- Ensure effective management of SMT equipment, tooling, feeders, stencils, and spare parts.
- Lead SMT equipment and tooling management compliance during ISO quality system audits and customer factory audits.
- Enforce 6S protocols, ESD protection requirements, and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) regulations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime, defects, cycle time, and production costs.
- Support new product introduction (NPI), trial production, engineering changes, and process validation activities.
- Maintain production records, equipment maintenance reports, downtime reports, yield reports, and other manufacturing documentation.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports for management review.

1. Educational Qualification

- B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) or Electronics and Communication Engineering (EC/ECE) is mandatory.

1. Required Experience

- 5–8 years of relevant experience in electronics manufacturing, particularly SMT operations.
- Previous experience managing SMT production lines and leading a technical team.
- Practical experience in SMT equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and process optimization.
- Experience with Secondary Equipment (SE), preventive maintenance planning, and equipment performance monitoring.
- Experience in ISO quality system audits and customer factory audits is preferred.
- Experience in high-volume electronics manufacturing will be an added advantage.

1. Required Technical Skills

- Strong knowledge of SMT processes, including solder paste printing, SPI, pick-and-place, reflow soldering, and AOI inspection.
- Ability to comprehensively review and control preventive maintenance (PM) schedules and execution for SMT and Secondary Equipment (SE) sections.




- Ability to monitor and optimize OEE, lead the team to minimize rejection rates, and eliminate production bottlenecks.
- Competence in reviewing RCA reports for critical equipment failures and approving long-term corrective actions and equipment upgrade projects.
- Knowledge of SMT equipment and tooling management requirements for ISO quality system audits and customer factory audits.
- Strong understanding of 6S protocols, ESD protection compliance, and EHS regulations.
- Ability to review and approve team members' technical evaluations and identify training requirements.
- Knowledge of SMT machine programming, feeder setup, stencil management, tooling control, and equipment utilization.
- Understanding of component traceability, solder paste management, and Moisture Sensitivity Level (MSL) requirements.
- Ability to analyze production KPIs, including OEE, UPH, First Pass Yield (FPY), downtime, and rejection PPM.
- Knowledge of root cause analysis tools, including 5 Why, Fishbone Analysis, CAPA, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong leadership, decision-making, analytical, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, production reporting, and equipment performance monitoring.

- Achievement of daily and monthly production targets.
- Improvement in SMT line efficiency and OEE.
- Reduction in equipment downtime and unplanned breakdowns.
- Improvement in First Pass Yield (FPY) and reduction in rejection rates.
- Timely execution and compliance with preventive maintenance schedules.
- Reduction in production bottlenecks and material wastage.
- Compliance with ISO quality systems, customer audit requirements, 6S, ESD, and EHS standards.
- Improvement in manpower productivity and technical competency.
