A Shift Incharge oversees all operational, safety, and personnel activities during a designated work shift to ensure production, quality, and output targets are met.

Job Overview

- Role Type: Supervisory / Operational

- Reports To: Production Manager / Plant Manager

- Subordinates: Machine Operators, Technicians, Line Workers, and Helpers

Key Responsibilities

- Shift Operations & Execution:

- Supervise and coordinate daily shift activities to achieve scheduled production or operational targets.

- Allocate manpower, assign tasks, and monitor workflow efficiency across the floor.

- Ensure proper shift handovers by communicating ongoing issues, targets, and logs to the incoming shift.

- Quality & Process Control:

- - Monitor machinery, equipment, and process parameters (e.g., temperature, weight, moisture, or line speed) to maintain product quality.

- Minimize material waste, scrap, and downtime through proactive monitoring.

- Ensure strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and compliance guidelines (e.g., FSSC 22000, ISO, or local safety laws).

- Safety & Compliance (HSE):

- Enforce workplace safety regulations, proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and housekeeping standards (e.g., 5S).

- Handle minor operational breakdowns, troubleshoot equipment issues,



and escalate major faults to the maintenance or engineering team.

- Team Management & Training:

- Train, mentor, and guide recent workers, operators, and helpers.

- Maintain discipline, resolve team conflicts, and monitor attendance. Reporting & Documentation:

- - Maintain accurate daily shift logs, production reports, stock updates (RM/PM), and incident records.

- Submit performance and KPI summaries to senior management.

Qualifications & Requirements

- Education: High School Diploma, ITI, Diploma in Engineering, or a Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc / BE / B.Tech in a relevant technical or industrial field).

- Experience: Typically 1 to 5+ years of shop-floor or supervisory experience in manufacturing, steel/DRI, chemical, or industrial production environments.

- Skills:

- - Strong leadership and team-handling capabilities.

- Hands-on technical understanding of plant/processing equipment.

- Problem-solving and decision-making under pressure.

- Basic computer literacy (MS Office / reporting tool
