ServiceNow CMDB Functional Consultant

Key Responsibilities

- Gather, analyse, and document business requirements related to CMDB implementation and usage.
- Translate business requirements into functional specifications for CMDB configuration and enhancements.
- Design, implement, and optimize CMDB processes aligned with ITIL best practices.
- Define and manage Configuration Item (CI) lifecycle processes, including creation, modification, and retirement.
- Collaborate with IT teams, business stakeholders, and process owners to identify CMDB requirements and use cases.
- Conduct workshops, requirement-gathering sessions, and stakeholder interviews.
- Drive CMDB process adoption through effective change management and communication strategies.
- Develop communication plans and stakeholder engagement frameworks for CMDB initiatives.
- Create training materials and conduct CMDB user training sessions.
- Provide functional support and guidance to end users and process stakeholders.
- Create and maintain CMDB documentation, policies, procedures, SOPs, and user guides.
- Design and maintain CMDB reports, dashboards, and performance metrics.
- Analyze CMDB health, data quality, and system usage trends and recommend improvements.
- Define and enforce CMDB data governance standards, policies, and controls.
- Conduct data quality reviews, audits, and data cleansing activities to ensure CMDB accuracy and integrity.
- Identify opportunities to integrate CMDB with ITSM, Asset Management, Discovery, Monitoring, and other enterprise systems.
- Define functional requirements for CMDB integrations and enhancements.
- Ensure CMDB processes comply with ITIL standards,



governance frameworks, and regulatory requirements.
- Support audit and compliance activities related to Configuration Management.
- Evaluate CMDB tools and capabilities from a functional and business process perspective.
- Coordinate with vendors and platform teams to address functional issues and enhancement requests.
- Monitor industry trends and CMDB best practices and recommend continuous improvements.
- Support CMDB implementation, enhancement, and transformation projects.
- Assist in defining project scope, deliverables, success criteria, and functional requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance CMDB effectiveness and business value.

Required Skills
- Robust understanding of CMDB concepts, Configuration Management, and ITIL processes.
- Experience in CMDB governance, data quality, and lifecycle management.
- Knowledge of Incident, Problem, Change, Asset, and Configuration Management processes.
- Strong business analysis and process improvement skills.
- Experience creating process flows, SOPs, training materials, and operational documentation.
- Strong stakeholder management and requirement-gathering capabilities.
- Experience in reporting, dashboard creation, and data analysis.
- Understanding of CMDB integrations and enterprise ITSM ecosystems.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.

Preferred Qualifications
- ITIL Foundation Certification.
- Experience working on ServiceNow CMDB implementations or enhancements.
- Experience with Configuration Management, ITSM, ITOM, Asset Management, or Service Mapping initiatives.
- Exposure to governance, risk, compliance, and audit activities related to CMDB.
