Role & responsibilities The Procurement Tool Functional Lead will lead the functional design, configuration, and support of procurement processes across Procurement Tool and SAP Ariba, ensuring alignment with business requirements, existing Ariba capabilities, and downstream SAP procurement processes.

The role requires strong hands-on experience in SAP Ariba Buying & Invoicing, Guided Buying, procurement workflows, approvals, buying channels, catalog and non-catalog purchasing, and integration with SAP S/4HANA/ECC. The Functional Lead will drive requirements analysis, fit-to-standard assessments, functional design, incident resolution, testing, and continuous improvement of global procurement processes.

Key Responsibilities

- Own functional requirements for procurement intake, workflows, approvals, buying channels, catalog and non-catalog purchasing, and end-user support.
- Assess Procurement Tool requirements against existing SAP Ariba configuration, master data, and process constraints; recommend scalable fit-to-standard solutions.
- Lead functional design for requisition-to-order processes and integration touchpoints with SAP S/4HANA/ECC.
- Define and configure, or guide configuration of, approval workflows, purchasing policies, forms, buying channels, users, roles, and related procurement settings.
- Define procurement process controls, business rules, approval requirements, and user access requirements.
- Assess supplier, catalog, and purchasing master data requirements to ensure consistency across Procurement Tool, SAP Ariba, and downstream SAP systems.
- Coordinate integration requirements across:

- Procurement Tool
- SAP Ariba Buying & Invoicing

- SAP Ariba Guided Buying

- SAP S/4HANA/ECC
- SAP MM and Procure-to-Pay processes
- SAP BTP Integration Suite/CPI and external procurement interfaces
- Analyze functional incidents, identify root causes, and coordinate resolution across Procurement Tool, SAP Ariba, SAP, and integration teams.
- Support System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), defect triage,



business validation, release readiness, and production stabilization.
- Work with business stakeholders to translate local procurement requirements into scalable global procurement processes.
- Ensure functional designs align with existing system capabilities, standard procurement practices, and integration requirements.
- Prepare and maintain functional specifications, process flows, configuration documentation, test scenarios, and support documentation.
- Provide functional governance, process guidance, user training, and knowledge transfer to business and support teams.
- Drive continuous improvement of procurement workflows, user experience, and operational support processes.

Required Skills & Experience

- 810 years of overall experience in procurement, SAP functional consulting, or enterprise procurement solutions, including 5+ years of SAP Ariba procurement experience.
- Experience in at least one end-to-end SAP Ariba implementation or major rollout.
- Strong hands-on experience in SAP Ariba Buying & Invoicing and Guided Buying.
- Deep understanding of Procure-to-Pay processes, including purchase requisitions, purchase orders, goods receipt, invoice processing, and supplier-related processes.
- Strong knowledge of SAP Ariba workflows, approval rules, catalogs, buying channels, forms, purchasing policies, and user administration.
- Experience assessing procurement requirements against existing SAP Ariba configurations and recommending fit-to-standard solutions.
- Good understanding of integration between SAP Ariba and SAP S/4HANA/ECC, including common integration failure scenarios and troubleshooting approaches.
- Ability to analyze configuration,



master data, and transaction behavior to resolve functional incidents and process issues.
- Understanding of SAP MM purchasing processes and downstream procurement integration.
- Experience defining functional requirements for procurement workflows, integrations, and business process enhancements.
- Proven experience supporting SIT/UAT, defect resolution, release readiness, and post-go-live stabilization.
- Strong stakeholder-management, requirements-analysis, functional-documentation, and business-process skills.

Good to Have

- SAP Ariba certification.
- Experience with multi-country procurement implementations, global rollouts, and localization requirements.
- Exposure to SAP BTP Integration Suite/CPI and API-based procurement integrations.
- Experience integrating SAP Ariba with SAP S/4HANA and ECC in complex enterprise landscapes.
- Experience supporting global buying channels, catalog management, and procurement policy standardization.
- Knowledge of procurement governance, compliance controls, and purchasing process optimization.
- Experience in production support, incident management, and continuous improvement initiatives for procurement platforms.
