Job Overview:

The Safety Officer ensures that all factory operations comply with statutory safety regulations and internal safety policies. The role is critical in preventing workplace accidents, protecting employee health, and maintaining a safe and productive environment. The officer acts as the link between management, employees, and regulatory authorities on all safety matters.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance & Monitoring

· Ensure adherence to the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020 and relevant state rules.

· Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments across departments.

· Monitor compliance with ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety Management System) standards.

Training & Awareness

· Develop and deliver safety induction programs for new employees.

· Organize periodic training sessions, toolbox talks, and mock emergency drills.

· Promote safety awareness through posters, campaigns, and workshops.

Incident Management

· Investigate accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.

· Prepare detailed incident reports and recommend corrective/preventive actions.

· Maintain accident registers and ensure timely reporting to authorities.

Emergency Preparedness

· Lead the Emergency Response Team during fire,



chemical spills, or medical emergencies.

· Ensure availability and maintenance of firefighting equipment, first aid kits, and evacuation plans.

· Coordinate with external agencies (fire department, hospitals, police) when required.

Documentation & Liaison

· Maintain statutory records such as safety audit reports, training logs, and inspection registers.

· Liaise with government inspectors during compliance checks.

· Prepare monthly safety performance reports for management review.

Skills Required:

· Bachelor’s degree/diploma in Engineering or Industrial Fire & Safety Course.

· Certification in Industrial Safety / NEBOSH / ISO 45001 preferred.

· Minimum 2-3 years of experience in factory or industrial safety.

· Strong knowledge of statutory safety regulations and ISO standards.

· Ability to conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).

· High attention to detail and proactive hazard identification with good communication and leadership skills
