JOB PURPOSE

Recognized as go-to expert for the particular technology, within the organization and even externally; As a principal technology specialist, be responsible for contributing to technology vision and roadmap for the Body parts Product Line; Assess and ensure capability development for the technology; Drive first time right and patents for the organization; Provide technical review of designs and undertake design activities.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Technology and Knowledge Development Planning

- Anticipate future developments and requirements in technology and assess current capability level to determine the gap / areas of opportunities to be bridged for the technology
- Contribute to setting the vision for the technology and 4W Body parts Product Roadmap,
- Ideate and put up plans to reduce capability gaps through training, skill development, external collaborations and other ways to bring in technology from outside
- POC (Proof Of Concept) Development for the products / technologies as per the Technology Roadmap

2. Capability Building / Technology Updates

- Scan environment, develop in-depth knowledge and stay ahead of the curve in terms of the recent developments and trends in the technology area
- Establish self as the go to person for the technology area in the organization and even externally
- Participate and lead external forums on the technology area, and build technical brand of the organization
- Create a continuous impact on the nature of products launched and contribution through patents (and their value, publishing of white papers, etc.




- Drive first time right design and launch for the 4W Body parts Products, continuously improving in terms of first-time right design
- Prepare and continuously add value in terms of upcoming technologies to the design guidelines including aspects such as topics, compliance, specifications, design steps, etc. to be used by end engineers, get first time right design and facilitate a smooth designing process
- Plan and lead design and delivery of training programs to enhance capability level for the Design & Development teams

3. Technical Review

- Technically review output of other Design & Development teams and provide inputs to finalize the design elements; Guide others on appropriate assumptions and get first time right designs
- Mentor other Design & Development team engineers / technical specialists to develop their knowledge and capabilities in the said area of technology
- Encourage development, review and approve designs for patents

4. Product Design

- Analyze design requirements, apply in-depth understanding of the properties of components and materials to determine most appropriate calculations and assumptions




- Identify and deploy right tools and rules for analysis to arrive at a design which will meet customer specifications including the DVP
- Convert requirements to engineering design for Automotive Interior and Exterior with a focus on first time right designs and reduce the time to TKO / SOP.

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATION

- Minimum Qualification required: Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Polymer)
- Qualifications preferred: Masters degree in Engineering

WORK EXPERIENCE / EXPOSURE / EXPERTISE

- Minimum 18-22 years of experience in the technology area
- In-depth and proven expertise in the technology area (such as Automotive Interiors, Exteriors, Safety, Premium Technologies, etc.)
- Has broad understanding and knowledge of the products and customers as well
- Strong experience of working on Design & Development [MANDATORY]
- Ability to give a Technical direction to team on design / development & establish design / development guidelines for the Vertical/COC
- Exposure to Automotive Interior Components - Instrument Panel & Central Console [MANDAYTORY]. Exposure to Door Panel, Door Trim, Exterior Trims [PREFERRABLE].
- Exposure to Passenger Airbag deployment & Soft wrapped parts / Soft Trims [PREFERRABLE]
