Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Cancer Biologist to spearhead a multidisciplinary team dedicated to the histological and molecular profiling of solid tumours. This leadership role drives the integration of high-resolution 3D histology, liquid biopsy, and multiomics to decode complex tumor microenvironments, with a specific focus on the unique molecular landscape of Indian cohorts. The successful candidate will direct end-to-end wet-lab and computational workflows,
translating cutting-edge histological and spatial omics into actionable oncological insights.
About the Centre The Centre for 3D Cancer is a Focused Research Organization dedicated to advancing multidisciplinary digital tissue mapping and high-resolution histopathology in oncology. Operating at the intersection of clinical research, tissue imaging, advanced molecular biology, and computational science, we are committed to decoding complex tumor microenvironments at unprecedented scales. Our state-of-the-art infrastructure seamlessly integrates advanced 3D histology, multiomics, spatial biology and liquid biopsy pipelines to drive deep molecular profiling.
By specifically focusing on the unique genomic and clinical landscapes of Indian cohorts, the Centre for 3D Cancer Omics translates complex molecular data into actionable insights, pushing the boundaries of precision oncology and transformative cancer care.
Key Responsibilities The primary responsibility is to direct and mentor a cross-functional research team executing advanced 3D digital histopathology, spatial transcriptomics and other multi-omics along with computational analysis.
- The lead will architect robust experimental pipelines for 3D tissue mapping and liquid
biopsy assays, ensuring the seamless integration of molecular data with histopathological findings.
- Core daily functions include managing facility operations, overseeing high-throughput
data generation, and driving methodological innovations.
- Additionally, this role requires adept resource allocation, the drafting of comprehensive
research proposals, and close collaboration across clinical, wet-lab, and computational biology teams.
- Lead the entire multidisciplinary team toward achieving impactful translational outcomes
in oncology, effectively bridging basic research and clinical applications to accelerate translatable innovations in precision oncology. Required Qualifications & Skills
- Candidates must possess a minimum of five years of post-doctoral or industry
experience in solid tumor oncology, molecular biology, or a closely related discipline, paired with a proven track record of team leadership.
- Exceptional proficiency in navigating the intersection of digital histopathology and
multiomics is mandatory.
- The role demands robust strategic planning capabilities to successfully execute
multi-phase research projects, guiding efforts from initial tissue processing through to final multi-omic data integration.
Educational Background A Ph.D. in Cancer Biology, Molecular Genetics, Genomics, or a highly related scientific discipline from a reputed institute and 7+ years of post-doctoral or industry experience in solid tumor oncology.
Technical & Lab Expertise
- Expertise in establishing and optimizing digital histopathology pipelines, NGS workflows
and diverse molecular probing methods that extend beyond standard commercial kits.
- Extensive experience with liquid biopsy protocols, spatial transcriptomics platforms, and
histopathology environments is required.
- Furthermore, familiarity with bioinformatics tools and open-source software for cancer
image analysis, multiomics data analysis and interpretation. Soft Skills & Operational Drive
- We require a driven leader capable of cultivating a collaborative, multidisciplinary
environment while upholding rigorous scientific standards.
- The candidate must be able to translate and communicate effectively across distinct
biological and computational units.
- Exceptional organizational drive is essential to oversee facility procurement, manage
continuous operational workflows, and mentor early-career researchers and scholars.
Desirable / Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience establishing or managing a specialized molecular oncology or
histopathology core facility stands as a significant advantage.
- A deep familiarity with solid tumor pathology, NGS, biomarker analysis and validation,
spatial biology platforms, and a proven ability to adapt diverse multiomics techniques to novel research strategies are highly preferred.
