Paraprofessional (1:1 Support Teacher) Reports to, and receives assistance, from:

Homeroom Lead Teacher

Relevant Subject Department Coordinators

Essential Responsibilities Include

Supporting one appointed child at a time, using specific strategies (pedagogical, behavioral, etc.) to help him/her process group (small or large) instruction and stay on task and achieve success To pull-out and conduct 1:1 academic sessions with the child, as per IEP needs

Communicating and consulting with parents, in consultation with the homeroom team

Developing, in consultation with the homeroom team, specific strategies (pedagogical, behavioral) that would help the child function independently in his school activities

Periodic reviews done in consultation with the homeroom team and parents,



to ensure that the child is on a track to move towards receiving instruction in group settings and working independently in group settings

Attending meetings and workshops, as required

Attending parent-teacher conferences, as requested by homeroom team

Supporting the homeroom team with:

Designing and setting up of classroom space - teaching materials, furniture arrangements, and overall learning environment - as conducive to the student s needs

Designing the student s IEP

Monitoring student progress

Communicating and consulting with the parents of the student being shadowed, if/when required

Proactively communicating with parents, and responding to their queries promptly (as per internal homeroom communication protocols)
