ABOUT SCARLET SPARK

Our mission: We spark the power and endurance of the animal protection movement by developing leaders and transforming pro-animal organizations into high-impact, human-friendly workplaces.

Our vision: A world without systems that perpetuate animal suffering and a culture of love for all living beings.

Our values:

1. ? Try Sh*t Out: we stay curious, keep learning, and experiment with new solutions.

2. ?️ Engineer Elegance: We seek simple, light-lift, and brain-friendly solutions.

3. ? Foster Abundance: we believe that trust breeds trustworthiness and that all animals are worthy of love — humans included.

4. ? Cultivate Diversity: we bring together people and perspectives and hold space for complexity.

5. ? Commit to Clarity: we go out of our way to get aligned and make the implicit explicit.

6. ? Share Power: we give and take responsibility and build capacity in ourselves and others.

7. ? Drink From the Cup of Joy: we dwell on the positive things (while honoring all emotions).

Our team & culture: We are a small, passionate team (4 full-time staff and 3-5 part-time contractors) who love what we do, why we do it, and who we get to do it with. We are a multicultural team but work together in English. Our clients are global, but we currently mostly provide services in English, and we would love to be able to offer our services in more languages.

We are a great fit for leadership and organizational development nerds who thrive on:

- Self-management
- Direct feedback
- Frequent collaboration
- Disciplined use of internal processes
- Owning complex challenges
- Constant experimentation and iteration

Our clients & work: About 80% of our work is consulting and 20% workshops and office hours. Our one-on-one consulting engagements consist of six to twelve 50-minute sessions. In 2027, we will begin offering group consulting in cohorts of ten to sixteen leaders going through similar org transitions: starting up, scaling up, or winding down.

Our clients are leaders of animal advocacy nonprofits around the world with a variety of strategies from welfare reform to food systems change. Their organizations range from three to three hundred employees (though most have a staff of ten to twenty). The majority focus on farmed animals and a few on wild animals. Our consulting clients are organizational decision-makers: most often Executive Directors and sometimes Board Members or Senior Leadership Team members.

We assign two co-Consultant to complex cases and one Consultant to standard engagements, though new Consultants pair up with a senior Consultant for their first five to ten client engagements. We aim to match clients with Consultants who have a shared language and cultural context, but all Consultants also serve clients around the world in English.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Purpose: Enable advocates to become more effective leaders and to build strategic, healthy organizations with engaged and high-performing teams.

Responsibilities:

1. Consult clients:

- Evaluate each client’s org health and diagnose their needs
- Develop work plans to address the client’s most important needs
- Provide one-on-one and small group coaching and consulting
- Review materials asynchronously and provide feedback

2. Lead group events:

- Facilitate leadership and management workshops on topics such as feedback skills, internal communication, and time effectiveness
- Answer leader and manager questions in small group office hours

3. Collaborate with Consultants:

- Exchange helpful feedback with Co-Consultants
- Share and apply lessons learned with the Consulting Team
- Consistently follow all note-taking and data-tracking processes

Success metrics:

- 90% of clients achieve their engagement goals and find our services useful
- 80% of clients demonstrate lasting change six months following the engagement
- A score of 4 out of 5 from Co-Consultants on meeting all expectations

Decision-making authority: Once Consultants complete onboarding, they make all decisions related to their clients in alignment with Scarlet Spark’s policies, guidelines, and org values.

Consulting topics: Most engagements fall into one or more of these org health categories.

HIRING CRITERIA

Essential criteria:

- Fluency (though not necessarily proficiency) in English
- Alignment with Scarlet Spark’s mission and values
- Consulting skills
- Coaching skills
- Knowledge of organizational health drivers and best practices, particularly for small and quickly-growing orgs
- Leadership and management skills
- A track record of leading or helping others lead organizational change
- Experience working in Latin America, Asia, or Africa

Nice to have but not essential:

- Fluency in a language other than those already represented on our team (English, Russian, Italian, Tagalog, German)
- Familiarity with research methods in psychology
- Understanding of nonprofit challenges
- Experience with grassroots or volunteer-led orgs
- Understanding of the farmed animal advocacy ecosystem

We do NOT require: a certain degree, certification, years of experience, prior nonprofit work, a fully plant-based lifestyle, excellence in every category. There is no “perfect” Consultant — each of us brings something unique to the team. Cultivating Diversity is one of our more treasured values. We welcome people of all identities and backgrounds and celebrate our differences.

OUR HIRING PROCESS & TIMELINE

We use a standardized process to evaluate every candidate the same way — it keeps things consistent, fair, and transparent, and minimizes the impact of bias.

- Apply by October 31, 2026: written application questions (no resume or cover letter needed)
- Nov 1 to Nov 15: written mock consulting session
- Nov 16 to Dec 15: one hour live mock consulting and values-fit interview
- Offer by Dec 20, 2026

We’re happy to make accommodations at any step. Just ask: It will never count against you!
