Job Summary

Rexnord Electronics and Control Limited is looking for a skilled and result-oriented New Product Development (NPD) Engineer to manage the development of new products from concept to production. The candidate will be responsible for coordinating with design, engineering, purchase, production, quality, and suppliers to ensure the successful development, testing, and launch of new products.

The ideal candidate should have experience in product development, component selection, vendor coordination, prototype development, cost optimization, and engineering documentation, preferably in the electronics, electrical, or manufacturing industry.

Key Responsibilities1. New Product Development

- Manage the complete new product development process, from initial concept to final production.
- Understand customer requirements and convert them into product specifications.
- Coordinate with design and engineering teams for product design, development, and technical feasibility.
- Identify suitable materials, components, and technologies for new product development.
- Develop new products based on customer requirements, market demand, and business objectives.
- Prepare project plans, timelines, and milestones for product development activities.
- Ensure timely completion of development projects as per approved schedules.

1. Prototype Development & Testing

- Coordinate prototype manufacturing, assembly, and sample development.
- Arrange required components, materials, and samples in coordination with the Purchase Department and suppliers.
- Conduct or coordinate product testing, performance evaluation, and validation.
- Identify design or functional issues during prototype testing and coordinate corrective actions.
- Work with the Quality and Engineering teams to ensure products meet required specifications and standards.
- Coordinate customer sample submissions and incorporate feedback wherever required.

1. Vendor & Supplier Coordination





- Coordinate with local and international suppliers for new product components and materials.
- Identify suitable vendors for specialised components, raw materials, and product development requirements.
- Obtain quotations, technical datasheets, samples, and product specifications from suppliers.
- Work with the Purchase Department to evaluate component costs, availability, and lead times.
- Support supplier development and component standardisation for new products.
- Explore alternative components and suppliers to improve product cost and availability.

1. Costing & Product Improvement

- Prepare product costing in coordination with Purchase, Production, and Accounts teams.
- Analyse material costs, manufacturing costs, and overall product development expenses.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction without compromising product quality or performance.
- Evaluate alternative materials and components for better cost efficiency.
- Support value engineering and continuous product improvement initiatives.
- Ensure the developed product meets target costing and commercial requirements.

1. Production & Cross-Functional Coordination

- Coordinate with Production, Quality, Purchase, Stores, and Design teams during product development.
- Ensure smooth transfer of new products from development to mass production.
- Prepare and maintain the Bill of Materials (BOM), product specifications, and technical documentation.
- Support trial production, pilot runs, and process validation.
- Resolve technical and production-related issues during initial manufacturing.
- Ensure availability of approved drawings, specifications, and work instructions before production release.

1. Documentation & Reporting

- Maintain product development records, drawings, test reports, and engineering change documentation.




- Prepare development status reports and communicate project progress to management.
- Maintain records of prototypes, samples, testing results, and product approvals.
- Coordinate engineering changes and ensure relevant departments receive updated documentation.
- Follow applicable quality procedures and product compliance requirements.

Educational Qualification
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or a related engineering discipline.
- Additional qualifications or training in product design, project management, or product development will be an advantage.

Experience Required
- 2–5 years of experience in Current Product Development, Product Engineering, or Research and Development.
- Experience in electronics, electrical products, engineering components, or manufacturing will be preferred.
- Experience in prototype development, product testing, BOM preparation, and supplier coordination will be an added advantage.

Required Skills
- Strong technical understanding and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of product development processes and prototype testing.
- Understanding of BOM preparation, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
- Good coordination and communication skills.
- Knowledge of MS Excel, MS Office, and ERP systems.
- Ability to manage multiple development projects and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of CAD software, product testing methods, and quality tools will be an advantage.
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on innovation, quality, and cost optimisation.
