MRD Technician (Medical Records Technician)

2. Job Summary The MRD Technician is responsible for maintaining, organizing, retrieving, and safeguarding patient medical records to ensure accurate documentation, confidentiality, and timely availability of records for patient care, billing, audits, and legal purposes.

3. Key Responsibilities

- Collect, verify, arrange, and file patient medical records.
- Maintain inpatient (IP) and outpatient (OP) medical records.
- Check medical records for completeness, signatures, dates, and required documents.
- Assign medical record numbers (MRN) and maintain patient record indexes.
- Retrieve and issue records to authorized departments when required.
- Scan, upload, and maintain electronic medical records (EMR), where applicable.
- Maintain discharge records, death records,



and other relevant hospital documentation.
- Ensure confidentiality and security of patient information.
- Track missing records and coordinate with clinical departments to complete documentation.
- Maintain registers, statistics, and reports related to medical records.
- Support medical audits, accreditation activities, inspections, and legal documentation requests.
- Follow hospital policies, record-retention procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Ensure proper storage, preservation, and authorized disposal of records according to hospital policy.
