We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to design package substations and outdoor electrical enclosures used in power distribution systems.

The role involves developing 3D models, designing structural frames and sheet metal enclosures, preparing manufacturing drawings, and ensuring the equipment is secure, durable, weather-resistant, and easy to install and maintain.

The engineer will work on both existing product improvements and new designs for international projects, collaborating with global engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings using Creo.
- Design package substation structures, outdoor enclosures, equipment layouts, and supporting frames.
- Ensure proper ventilation, accessibility, safety clearances, and ease of maintenance.
- Select suitable materials, sheet metals, steel grades, coatings, and corrosion protection systems.
- Prepare manufacturing drawings using GD&T; and applicable fabrication standards.
- Support structural analysis, FEA, seismic and vibration assessments.
- Coordinate with manufacturing, sourcing, and project teams to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective.




- Improve existing designs through standardisation, cost optimisation, and product reliability initiatives.
- Collaborate with international engineering teams on global projects.

Required Skills and Experience

- Minimum 5 years of mechanical design experience in package substations, electrical enclosures, switchgear, transformers, skids, or structural steel systems.
- Advanced proficiency in Creo Parametric – 3D modelling, assemblies, and drawing generation.
- Strong knowledge of sheet metal design, welding, machining, and structural steel fabrication.
- Understanding of GD&T;, engineering drawings, corrosion protection, and outdoor equipment design.
- Ability to develop new designs and improve existing products independently.

Preferred Skills

- Experience with e-houses, prefabricated electrical rooms, or package substations.
- Knowledge of IEC 62271-202 standards.
- Exposure to FEA/simulation, seismic requirements, lifting arrangements, and transportation design.
- Experience working with global engineering teams.
