About SBNRI
35 million NRIs are trying to manage money in India from thousands of miles away. Most of them don't trust anyone enough to help. SBNRI is building the company that changes that, across mutual funds, fixed deposits, taxation, and cross-border compliance, for investors in over 120 countries.
Our users live under one country's rules and invest under another's. Regulation isn't a constraint on this business. It is the business.
What you'll own
See risk early. Track SEBI, AMFI, RBI, IFSCA and FIU-IND, along with industry and global regulatory reports. Spot changes about six months before they land. Assess whether SBNRI can absorb each change, what it costs our growth, and what we need to do now to be ready.
Say yes, safely . Assess new products, partnerships and markets for feasibility. Answer three questions: what is allowed, what approvals we need, and how to structure it so it works.
Keep the line clear
. Keep distribution and advice separate across our products, marketing and customer conversations. Review campaigns quickly enough that growth never waits on you.
Run the machine . Own the compliance calendar, obligations register, KYC/AML framework, data protection, audits, regulator queries and grievances. Turn every recurring check into a system others can run.
Handle the paperwork that matters. Review agreements with AMCs, banks, partners and vendors. Work with external counsel when a question needs specialist depth. Report to the Board on compliance risk and remediation.
Our non-negotiables A path, not a verdict. "Not permitted" is half an answer. Say what would be permitted instead. If the answer is no, say so early.
Fast and right.
Give a same-day view on reversible questions. Give a written recommendation on irreversible ones.
No surprises. No regulatory change or deadline should reach us late. Missing one means the system you own has failed.
Inspection-proof . Send nothing to a user or a regulator that you would not defend on record.
Systems over dependency. If you are doing something by hand for the third time, automate it or turn it into a checklist.
