What awaits you/ Job Profile
Join the Engineering Intelligence unit at BMWTechWorks India to work on the Kennfeldrechner (KFR) calibration tool — a desktop application written entirely in MATLAB that supports calibration engineers by visualizing and processing measurement data and enabling the creation and optimization of characteristic maps. In this role you will develop new KFR features, fix bugs, ensure reliable operations, and provide user support to enable seamless calibration workflows. You will collaborate with calibration experts and cross-functional teams to make the tool more user-friendly and efficient, helping users who do not write code to achieve faster, more accurate calibration results.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys applied software development in a domain-focused environment and who wants to have visible impact on vehicle engine calibration processes.
What should you bring along
- A practical,
mid-level background in MATLAB development with experience building and maintaining desktop applications.
- A problem-solving mindset and strong communication skills for working directly with end users and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Familiarity with agile ways of working and experience using Jira and Confluence.
- A willingness to support operations and user queries in addition to feature development and bug fixes.
- Optional: domain knowledge in combustion-engine development and basic German language skills to facilitate closer collaboration with domain experts.
- Must have technical skill
- Proficient in MATLAB (development, debugging, and scripting).
- Basic MATLAB UI design experience (building and maintaining user interfaces in MATLAB).
- Git/GitHub for version control.
- Experience working with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Copilot) or similar assistants.
- Practical experience with Agile tools and workflows (Jira, Confluence).
Positive to have Technical skills
- Hands-on experience in combustion-engine calibration or engine-control concepts.
- Basic Python skills for scripting, data processing, or tooling integration.
- Basic German language skills to support German-speaking stakeholders.
