Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer – Electrical Panels

Department: Engineering – Mechanical Design

Reporting To: Lead Design Engineer / Engineering Head

Job Purpose:

To develop mechanical designs, fabrication drawings, General Arrangement (GA) drawings, sheet-metal layouts, and manufacturing documentation for LT panels, HT panels, VCB panels, and other electrical switchgear assemblies, ensuring compliance with customer specifications, applicable standards, and manufacturing requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

- Mechanical Design & Drafting:
- Prepare General Arrangement (GA) drawings for LT panels, HT panels, VCB panels, and control panels.
- Design panel enclosures, cubicles, doors, partitions, mounting plates, and structural frames.
- Develop sheet-metal fabrication drawings, cutting layouts, bending details, and assembly drawings.
- Design busbar chambers, cable compartments, gland plates, and equipment mounting arrangements in coordination with electrical design engineers.
- Prepare 2D and 3D models using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent CAD software.
- Manufacturing Support:
- Generate Bill of Materials (BOM) for mechanical components.
- Coordinate with fabrication vendors and the production team to ensure manufacturability.
- Optimize sheet-metal utilization and minimize fabrication costs.




- Resolve manufacturing issues and incorporate design modifications.
- Support production, assembly, inspection, and testing teams.
- Standards, Quality & Cost Optimization:
- Ensure designs comply with applicable IEC standards and customer specifications.
- Coordinate with the electrical design team to meet IP protection, clearances, segregation, and safety requirements.
- Standardize panel dimensions and mechanical components across product families.
- Identify opportunities to reduce material consumption, fabrication time, and overall product cost.
- Support estimation and costing teams with accurate mechanical BOMs and maintain drawing revisions.

Requirements & Qualifications:

- Diploma or B.E. / B.Tech in Engineering.
- 3–7 years of experience in sheet-metal design, electrical panel manufacturing, or switchgear enclosure design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and preferably SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software.
- Practical knowledge of sheet-metal fabrication, bending, welding, powder coating, and assembly processes.
- Hands-on experience in LT panels, HT panels, or VCB panels is preferred.

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
