- Read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings, assembly diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Assemble machine parts, structural components, gearboxes, pumps, and sub-assemblies with tight tolerances.
- Perform basic metal shaping, cutting, filing, drilling, tapping, reaming, and grinding using hand tools and workshop machinery (lathes, drill presses, grinders).
- Align shafts, pulleys, bearings, and couplings using precision measuring instruments (vernier calipers, micrometers, dial indicators).
- Carry out basic welding (Arc, MIG, or TIG) and structural fabrication tasks as required for adjustments or assembly.
- Check finished and assembled metal parts for dimensional accuracy, fit, and free movement.
- Diagnose mechanical faults, strip down malfunctioning machinery, replace worn-out parts, and execute preventive or breakdown maintenance.
- Follow workshop safety rules, wear prescribed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and maintain a clean, hazard-free workspace
