Role Description The Grafana Engineer contract role is a remote position responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining observability dashboards and monitoring solutions for client environments. This role includes integrating Grafana with various data sources, optimizing queries, and building clear, actionable visualizations that support security, performance, and reliability goals.

The Grafana

Engineer collaborates with cybersecurity, infrastructure, and application teams to understand metrics and logs, define key performance indicators, and ensure alerting configurations are effective and aligned with business needs. Day-to-day responsibilities involve troubleshooting dashboard issues, improving monitoring coverage, automating deployment of Grafana configurations,



and contributing to documentation and best practices for observability. The role may also support performance tuning and scalability efforts for monitoring platforms, and assist with implementing secure access and role-based permissions within Grafana.

Qualifications

- Robust foundation in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and system design.
- Proficiency in Back-End Web Development and Software Development, with experience building and integrating APIs and services that feed monitoring and logging systems.
- Solid Programming skills and familiarity with Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles, preferably in languages commonly used for automation and tooling (such as Python, Go, or JavaScript).
- Hands-on experience with Grafana, including dashboard creation, datasource configuration (e.g., Prometheus, Elasticsearch, Loki, InfluxDB), alerting setup, and role-based access control.
- Knowledge of observability concepts (metrics, logs, traces) and experience with monitoring stacks and related tools (e.g., Prometheus, Loki, Elastic Stack, OpenTelemetry).
- Understanding of cybersecurity or cloud security practices and secure configuration of monitoring platforms is highly beneficial.
- Experience working in cloud environments (such as Azure, AWS, or GCP), including deploying and managing monitoring solutions at scale.
- Ability to work independently in a remote, contract setting, communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and document configurations and procedures effectively.
