Forward Deployed AI Engineer

About Role

Azentio AI & Innovation Labs is looking for hands-on software engineers who can work close to real business and customer problems and turn them into working AI capabilities.

You will work across banks, NBFCs, insurers and Azentio teams. The role combines strong software engineering with applied AI: understand the workflow, build the smallest testable use case, integrate it into real systems, put it in front of users quickly and improve it from evidence.

This is not a traditional implementation or consulting role. You are expected to build production-quality software and bring reusable components and learning back into Azentio products and the common AI platform.

Responsibilities

Problem to Working Use Case

- Turn a business problem into a small, testable AI use case.
- Work with users, product teams, and customer teams to understand how the workflow operates today.
- Put what you build in front of real users quickly and iterate based on feedback and evidence.

Engineering & Integration

- Design and build AI-powered applications, agents, workflows, and APIs.
- Write production-quality backend code and integrate AI capabilities into enterprise systems.
- Connect models to enterprise data, databases, APIs, and tools.
- Design service integrations, data flows and application logic needed to make AI use cases work end to end.
- Debug failures across application, integration, model, and data layers.
- Improve performance, reliability, security, and maintainability of what you build.

Reuse & Learning





- Bring reusable components, services, and patterns back into the common AI platform.
- Document what worked, what failed and what should be reused by the next team or customer.

Required Technical Skills

Programming

- Solid coding skills in Python.
- Working proficiency in Java.
- Ability to write clean, modular, testable, and maintainable code.
- Understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, error handling, and debugging.

Backend & APIs

- Experience building and consuming REST APIs.
- Understanding of backend services, authentication, request/response handling, and integrations.
- Ability to integrate applications with enterprise systems and third-party services.

Databases

- Working knowledge of SQL, including joins, aggregations, subqueries, and analytical queries.
- Comfortable understanding schemas, relationships, and querying enterprise databases.
- Familiarity with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL or similar.

AI Engineering

- LLM fundamentals, prompting, and context engineering.
- RAG, embeddings and vector search concepts.
- Tool/function calling, agent workflows and model APIs.
- Comfortable using AI coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot or similar.

Preferred

- Built AI side projects, hackathon solutions or working prototypes that integrate with real systems.
- Exposure to BFSI, enterprise products or customer-facing engineering environments.
- High curiosity and comfort learning unfamiliar systems quickly.
