Type: Part-Time
Location: Remote
Experience: 5+ years of engineering experience (Minimum 2+ years strictly as a Forward Deployed
Engineer / Customer-Facing Production Engineer)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to act as a Part-Time Course
Mentor/Instructor.
In this role, you won't just teach theory—you will bridge the gap between building software and making software work in complex enterprise environments. You will mentor aspiring engineers,
review client-style capstone projects, host live Q&A;/debugging sessions, and ensure our students develop the production-first mindset required at companies like Palantir, scale-up AI startups, and top tech consultancies.
Key Responsibilities
Lead 2–3 hours of live sessions and Q&A;
Evaluate students’ production code, API integrations, data pipeline architectures, and low-
code/no-code AI agent workflows.
Help design realistic "client-style" scenarios, dealing with messy data, changing requirements,
and enterprise integration constraints.
Provide actionable career coaching, mock technical interviews, and guidance on how to position FDE skills on resumes.
Key Requirements
5+ Years Total Engineering Experience: Robust software engineering foundation in Python,
TypeScript/JavaScript, or Go.
Forward Deployed Experience: Proven track record working directly with clients/enterprise stakeholders to deploy, integrate, and operationalize custom solutions in production.
Enterprise & Cloud Stack: Experience with modern data pipelines, cloud deployment
(AWS/GCP/Azure), containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), microservices, and API orchestration.
AI & Agentic Workflows: Hands-on experience with LLM orchestration (LangChain,
LlamaIndex), RAG architectures, and low-code/no-code agent tooling (e.g., n8n, Flowise,
Make, Dify, AutoGen).
Communication & Empathy: Ability to explain complex architecture choices, debug messy client environments live, and give constructive code feedback.
Enjoys teaching, pairing, and mentoring junior/mid-level developers.
Commitment & Compensation
Time Commitment: 10 hours per week (Fixed weekend slots for live sessions).
- Compensation: Competitive hourly rate / retainer based on experience level.
