Job Summary

The purpose of the job is to support the team responsible for developing mathematical models of aircraft, and conducting aerodynamic and flight mechanics analysis, primarily for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). The role provides hands-on experience in aerodynamic modeling, fluid dynamics, and flight mechanics under the guidance of senior engineers.

Responsibilities

Team Responsibilities

- Assist in defining system requirements and specifications based on project objectives.

- Support the generation and integration of agile mathematical models of various aircraft components for simulation.

- Perform aerodynamic design and analysis under the guidance of senior engineers.

- Perform performance and stability analysis.

- Understand the CFD process and extraction of aerodynamic coefficients.

- Support code and SOP development for aerodynamic design and analysis.

- Stay updated with advancements in UAVs, emerging technologies, and industry trends through research and continuous learning.

Technical Documentation

- Prepare high quality technical documentation, including design, analysis, and testing reports.

- Prepare design and analysis reports.

- Prepare test matrices and test reports.

- Prepare detailed diagrams.

Additional Functions

- Coordinate with propulsion, structural, flight, and other teams to capture inputs and outputs and achieve desired goals.

- Support the flight team in adjusting for safe and optimum flights.

Managerial Responsibilities

- Plan and track assigned tasks and deliverables against timelines, flagging risks and delays to the reporting manager at an early stage.

- Follow best practices, design standards, and quality assurance processes.

- Maintain traceable records of analysis inputs, assumptions, and results for team review.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Educational Qualification

- Bachelors or Masters degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field.

Experience Required

- Fresher (0-1 year).





- Internship, academic project, or final-year thesis experience in aerodynamics, CFD, flight mechanics, or UAVs is preferred.

Technical Competencies Required

- Knowledge of aircraft fundamentals, including aircraft configurations and major components, airfoil and wing behaviour, lift and drag, performance, stability and control, flight control systems, and the basic flight envelope.

- Understanding of CFD fundamentals, including governing equations of fluid flow, domain and mesh generation, mesh quality, boundary conditions, turbulence models, convergence, and interpretation of results.

- Sound fundamentals in fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, thermodynamics, and engineering mathematics, with the ability to understand aircraft subsystems and components.

- Exposure to modelling and simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink or LabVIEW through coursework, projects, or internships.

- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think analytically.

- Solid attention to detail and accuracy in aerodynamic design, analysis, and documentation.

- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.

- Adaptability and flexibility to work in a fast-paced and evolving UAV development environment.

Skills / Specific Tool Knowledge Required

- Simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink.

- Exposure to CFD tools such as ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM, or STAR-CCM+, and CAD tools such as SolidWorks or CATIA.

- Other tools such as MATLAB, XFLR, and MS Office.

- Basic familiarity with UAV-specific components and systems, such as actuators and electric propulsion units.
