Role summary: Set up and run CNC turning centres to produce precision turned parts to drawing, on time and right first time.
Key responsibilities
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T; callouts and route cards.
- Set up the machine: load program, mount chuck jaws and tools, set work and tool offsets.
- Run first-off, get first-piece inspection approved, then run the batch.
- Measure parts in-process with vernier, micrometer, bore gauge, height gauge and thread gauges; record in the inspection report.
- Adjust wear offsets to hold tolerances (typically ±0.01 mm).
- Make minor program edits on Fanuc / Mitsubishi controls under supervision.
- Monitor tool life, change inserts and log tool usage.
- Fill daily production and downtime records used for OEE.
- Follow 5S, safety rules and AS9100D practices: FOD control, traceability, non-conforming part segregation.
- Do daily machine checks (lubrication, coolant, air pressure) and report abnormalities.
Skills required
- Hands-on operation of CNC lathes / turning centres (Fanuc or Mitsubishi preferred)
- G-code and M-code basics; offset setting and tool nose radius compensation
- Turning, facing, boring, grooving, threading and parting operations
- Use of precision measuring instruments
- Working with aluminium, steels, stainless steel; titanium or Inconel is a plus
- Basic drawing reading and GD&T; awareness
Preferred
- Experience in aerospace or defence components
- Exposure to bar feeders, sub-spindle or live-tool (mill-turn) machines

Shift
General and rotational shifts
Role summary:
Set up and run vertical machining centres to produce precision milled parts to drawing, holding tight tolerances and surface finish.
Key responsibilities
- Read drawings, GD&T;, route cards and setup sheets.
- Mount fixtures and vices, clock and align the job, set work offsets (G54–G59) with edge finder or probe.
- Load tools into the magazine, set tool lengths and diameters, verify the tool list against the program.
- Dry-run and prove new programs carefully; get first-piece inspection approved before batch run.
- Measure in-process with vernier, micrometer, height gauge, bore gauge, slip gauges and thread plug gauges.
- Adjust offsets to hold tolerances (typically ±0.01 mm) and required surface finish.
- Make minor edits on Fanuc / Mitsubishi controls under supervision; never run unapproved programs.
- Monitor tool wear and coolant; change tools and report breakages.
- Record production, rejections and downtime for OEE tracking.
- Follow 5S, safety, FOD control, traceability and AS9100D practices.
Skills required
- Hands-on VMC operation (Fanuc or Mitsubishi preferred)
- Work and tool offset setting; G-code and M-code basics
- Face milling, pocketing, profiling, drilling, tapping, reaming, boring
- Fixture setting and job alignment with dial indicator
- Use of precision measuring instruments

Shift
General shift; support to production shifts when needed
Role summary: Create, prove and optimise CNC programs for turning and milling,
turning customer drawings and 3D models into right-first-time parts at the lowest cycle time.
Key responsibilities
- Study customer drawings, 3D models and GD&T; plan the process route, operations and fixturing.
- Generate CNC programs for turning, VMC and multi-axis machines using CAM software.
- Select tools, cutting parameters and toolpath strategies (adaptive / HSM roughing, finishing).
- Configure and maintain post-processors for Fanuc and Mitsubishi controls.
- Run toolpath simulation and machine verification to prevent collisions and gouges.
- Prepare setup sheets, tool lists and process sheets for operators.
- Prove out programs on the machine with operators and approve first-off parts.
