Program, set up and operate CNC laser cutting machines to produce accurate components as per engineering drawings, while maintaining quality, material efficiency, productivity and safety.
Key Responsibilities
1. Programming & Drawing Interpretation
- Read engineering drawings and understand dimensions, tolerances, material specifications and cutting requirements.
- Prepare and modify CNC laser cutting programs using the machine’s compatible CAD/CAM software.
- Create nesting layouts to optimise sheet utilisation and minimise scrap.
2. Machine Setup & Operation
- Set up and operate the CNC laser cutting machine according to approved procedures.
- Select suitable cutting parameters based on material type and thickness.
- Check nozzle condition, alignment, focus settings and assist-gas requirements.
- Load and unload sheets using approved handling methods.
3. Production & Material Management
- Complete assigned jobs according to the production schedule.
- Record quantities produced, material consumption, scrap, rework and downtime.
- Coordinate with downstream fabrication teams for smooth component handover.
- Suggest improvements to reduce cutting time and material waste.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Perform daily checks, cleaning and routine preventive maintenance within the operator’s authorised scope.
- Check consumables and report replacement requirements.
- Maintain machine inspection and maintenance records.
5. Safety & Housekeeping
- Follow laser safety, machine guarding, material handling and workplace safety procedures.
- Use required PPE and ensure extraction systems are functioning.
- Never bypass machine interlocks or undertake unauthorised repairs.
Qualifications & Skills
- ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production, CNC or a related trade.
- Hands-on experience in CNC laser cutting operation and programming.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and dimensional tolerances.
- Knowledge of CAD/CAM, nesting software and the relevant machine controller.
- Understanding of cutting parameters for materials such as mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium.
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
