1. Greet patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner, providing assistance and guidance as needed.
2. Register patients for outpatient services, collect demographic information, and verify insurance coverage using electronic health record (EHR) systems or billing software.
3. Explain billing procedures, insurance policies, and financial responsibilities to patients, ensuring clear understanding and compliance.
4. Accurately enter patient data, including personal information, medical history, and insurance details, into the billing system for record-keeping and billing purposes.
5. Process patient co-payments, deductibles, and other financial transactions using cash, credit/debit cards, or electronic payment methods.
6. Coordinate with healthcare providers, nurses, and administrative staff to schedule appointments, referrals,
and follow-up visits for patients.
7. Review medical records and encounter forms to verify the completeness and accuracy of documentation for billing and reimbursement purposes.
8. Generate and submit insurance claims, electronic billing statements, and invoices to third-party payers, government agencies, and patients in a timely manner.
9. Monitor accounts receivable, follow up on unpaid claims, and resolve billing discrepancies or denials through proactive communication with insurance companies and patients.
10. Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations and privacy policies when handling sensitive medical records and billing data.
11. Assist in reconciling daily financial transactions, preparing deposit slips, and balancing cash drawers according to established procedures.
12. Collaborate with other departments, such as medical records, finance, and patient services, to streamline workflows and enhance the patient experience.
