About the Role

We are looking for an experienced SmartCOMM Developer for a remote contract role, working on projects for a leading banking client in Ireland . You will design, develop and maintain customer communication solutions in

SmartCOMM (Thunderhead) , and you will also help with Credit Studio , including developing SQL-based reports. The role needs strong hands-on SmartCOMM development experience, light SQL skills, and the ability to work closely with business teams to turn their requirements into working solutions.

Key Responsibilities

- Analyse business requirements, then explore and propose SmartCOMM solutions to meet them.
- Design, develop and maintain SmartCOMM components: templates, sub-templates, layouts, shared content, stylesets, template selectors, business objects and XML payloads, using Advanced Template Designer (ATD) and Data Modeler.
- Build agile, rule-driven templates for on-demand, interactive and batch communications, such as letters, notices, statements and regulatory documents.
- Develop multi-channel and multilingual communications (print, PDF, email), including bilingual templates where required.
- Map backend data (XML/JSON) to SmartCOMM data models, and set up conditional logic and template selection rules.
- Complete assigned Credit Studio tasks, and write and maintain SQL queries and reports on Credit Studio.




- Work with business teams by running solution walkthroughs and KT sessions on SmartCOMM solutions, templates and environments as needed.
- Carry out unit testing, support SIT/UAT, and fix defects and issues through root cause analysis.
- Keep technical documentation up to date and submit weekly work status reports.

Required Skills & Experience

- 4+ years of IT experience in Customer Communication Management (CCM) or application development (.NET, Java or similar), with hands-on SmartCOMM (Thunderhead) development experience or exposure. Senior profiles are welcome.
- Ability to support SmartCOMM development as well as build SQL reports on Credit Studio.
- Strong knowledge of ATD, Data Modeler, layouts, stylesets, shared content and template selectors.
- Working knowledge of SQL (MS SQL Server or DB2), including SELECT queries, joins, filters and aggregations for reporting.
- Experience with XML/JSON data structures and data mapping.
- Experience in the banking domain (credit, lending or collections preferred).
- Good communication skills and the ability to work independently with business teams in a remote setup.

Desirable Skills

- Exposure to Credit Studio, CACS or other credit and collections platforms.
- Experience running KT sessions or solution walkthroughs for business stakeholders.
- Experience with other CCM tools such as OpenText Exstream, xPression or Quadient Inspire.
- Reporting tools such as SSRS or Crystal Reports.
- Programming experience in Java, C#/.NET or JavaScript.
- Familiarity with Postman, Git/GitHub, Jenkins, and ALM or JIRA.

We welcome experienced and senior developers, including those with a strong .NET/SQL Server and reporting background, who have worked on or alongside SmartCOMM or similar CCM platforms.
