Who Are We?
At HyPrix, we're building attritable payload delivery systems for autonomy. Things that fly rapid, we're enabling them with conscious software. Replicating the capabilities of expensive conventional frontline systems, we're building the cheapest micro and cruise missile systems on the planet. Built for a war of attrition, built for the era of software-defined warfare, built to cater to the front lines of battlefields where no man should stand in the future.

What You'll Do The Avionics Test Engineer verifies HyPrix avionics through every test level: board, subassembly, harness, integrated system, environmental qualification, acceptance and flight trial. The position holder plans the tests, builds the test equipment, runs the tests and proves with data that each unit is fit to fly.
The hardware under test includes flight computers, power distribution, sensor interface and actuator drive boards, wiring harnesses, and safe-and-arm and initiation circuits. Signal and power integrity measurements and RF performance tests are not in the scope of this role.
- Test requirements and planning. Define the test requirements and the verification matrix with the avionics, systems and quality teams. Write the test plans and procedures for each test level.
- Board and subassembly test. Do functional and performance tests on power rails, current draw, timing, sensor interfaces and actuator drives. Verify each interface: CAN, RS-422/485, SPI, I2C, UART and Ethernet.
- Harness test. Test each wiring harness for continuity, pin-out, insulation resistance and hi-potential test.
- Test equipment. Design and build test fixtures, breakout boxes, load boards and automated test stations. Control the instruments with Python, and log all test data automatically.
- Integration and HIL test. Integrate the avionics on the hardware-in-the-loop bench and in the vehicle. Run integrated tests with flight software, simulated sensors and actuators,
and fault injection.
- Environmental qualification. Plan and run thermal, thermal cycling, vibration, shock, humidity and altitude tests to MIL-STD-810, in-house and at external test laboratories.
- EMI/EMC and power quality. Plan and support EMI/EMC tests to MIL-STD-461 and power quality tests to MIL-STD-704 or MIL-STD-1275 at accredited test laboratories.
- Screening. Define and run environmental stress screening (ESS) on flight units.
- Acceptance and production test. Write acceptance test procedures and test work instructions for the technicians. Run the acceptance test on each delivered unit, and keep each test record traceable to its serial number.
- Flight trials. Do the pre-flight checkout of the avionics at the test range, and review the telemetry data after each flight.
- Failures and design feedback. Lead the root-cause investigation of each test failure, and close it with a corrective action. Review new boards for design for testability (DFT).
- Reports and records. Generate a test report for each test, and save the data and reports in the PDM/PLM system, linked to the hardware revision and serial number.
- Lab equipment. Keep the test equipment calibrated and serviceable.
Requirements
Minimum Experience (Years) 4 years of testing electronic hardware: development, qualification or acceptance test.
HyPrix prefers this experience, but it is not mandatory. Demonstrated capability is more important than years.
Required Skills
- Electronics test. Hands-on development, qualification or acceptance test of electronic hardware, from board level to integrated system.
- Lab equipment. Able to use oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, electronic loads, logic and protocol analysers, and DAQ systems.
- Interfaces. Practical test experience with CAN, RS-422/485, SPI, I2C, UART and Ethernet.
- Test automation. Instrument control and data logging in Python.
- Troubleshooting. Ability to read schematics and harness drawings, and to find faults down to component level.
- Environmental and EMI test. Practical knowledge of MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461 test methods.
- Fixtures. Experience to design and build test fixtures, breakout boxes and test harnesses.
- Documentation. Experience to write test plans, procedures and reports with full traceability.
- A bachelor's degree in electronics, electrical, electronics and communication, instrumentation or aerospace engineering.
- Ability to travel to test laboratories and test ranges, and to support at critical test and flight-trial milestones.
Advantageous Skills/Qualifications
- Experience with hardware-in-the-loop test benches.
- Experience with environmental stress screening (ESS).
- Test experience on missile, UAV, flight control, actuator or safe-and-arm hardware.
- Experience with LabVIEW, MATLAB or C/C++ for test tools.
- Experience to develop test GUIs, dashboards and test databases.
- Experience with vibration test instrumentation, for example accelerometers and charge amplifiers.
- Experience with automated harness testers.
- Experience with tests at NABL-accredited laboratories, and with DGAQA or CEMILAC witnessed tests.
- Basic experience to save test data in a PDM or PLM system.
