About This Opportunity

About InComm Benefits: We build the technology behind benefits administration — the systems employers and employees depend on for things that matter in their lives. That means sensitive data, real money, and zero tolerance for "it works on my machine." Reliability, security, and operational excellence aren't aspirations here; they're standard practice.

In this role you'll lead a small team of software engineers who design and build APIs specifically for benefits administration. We need a player/coach who will focus on strong technical design reviews, delivery, the adoption of thoughtful Ai tooling and accountability. We need a software engineer with experience building AI-native products across the full software development lifecycle. This position reports to the VP of Software Engineering.

Location: Remote, India

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

- Drive adoption of AI-assisted development tools with appropriate guardrails— usage guidelines, review standards, and measured impact on productivity and quality.
- Uphold backward compatibility and API versioning discipline; coordinate breaking changes carefully with downstream consumers.
- Ensure contract and integration testing coverage across consuming systems and services.
- Guide the team on design and implementation decisions, escalating architectural decisions leadership
- Uphold engineering standards through code review expectations and automated testing
- Manage technical debt deliberately — treat the automation and test suite as a core asset, and balance new feature delivery against platform stability and maintainability.

- Operate within PCI DSS, SOC, HITRUST and related change-control requirements without sacrificing delivery speed.
- Partner with product management, QA, Dev Ops, and other business units to ensure seamless delivery.
- Translate business priorities into clear engineering work and communicate status in terms stakeholders understand.
- Report reliability and delivery performance to senior leadership transparently — including bad news early — so confidence in the team is grounded in evidence.
- Communicate clearly and promptly with business stakeholders during and after customer-impacting incidents.
- Coordinate with peer engineering managers and consuming teams on shared platforms, standards, and cross-team dependencies.

Qualifications

What You Will Bring

- Minimum 2 years of experience building AI-native products (full SDLC) using Anthropic, Open AI or Git Copilot tooling
- Minimum 3+ years of experience with people management (coaching/training software engineers)
- Maximum 12 years of experience in software development with a focus on building scalable platforms
- Experience building multi-tenant scalable systems on public clouds (preferably AWS)
- Robust knowledge of Relational Databases
- Hands-on experience with AWS services such as API Gateway, AWS Lambda, Simple Notification Services, Aurora
- Deep understanding of Serverless and Microservices architecture
- Strong in designing and building REST APIs, workflows, and tools to deploy, test, and perform CI/CD

- Prior experience in the Finance and Health industry is a plus
