Position: PDF Annotation & Transcription Experts – Malayalam
Type: Contract
Compensation: $10–$11/hour

Location: Remote

Role Responsibilities

- Evaluate and confirm the legibility and content of provided Malayalam PDF pages. Ensure no personal details are present.
- Annotate structure by identifying and bounding every meaningful region. Assign component types and reading-order indices.
- Record relationships between regions and their parent components, such as figures or tables.
- Transcribe text exactly as it appears in Malayalam script, including handwritten content. Flag any illegible regions.
- Capture page metadata, including language, document type, and flags for tables, formulas, and handwriting.
- Review a colleague's work as a second Malayalam expert to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Qualifications

Must-Have

- Native Malayalam speaker with full command of the script.




- Experience in document annotation, transcription, or related fields.
- High level of accuracy with character-level precision.
- Systematic approach to applying taxonomies consistently.
- Comfort with unfamiliar layouts, such as multi-column newspapers and handwritten forms.

Preferred

- Experience with regional-language AI data annotation and labeling.
- Skills in transcription and localization, including MTPE and OCR correction.
- Background in document production, such as typesetting and proofreading.
- Knowledge of script and encoding, including Unicode normalization.
