Designation - Design Engineer (Solar + BESS)

Location - Chennai

Role Overview

Pre-sales technical owner who designs hybrid Solar plus BESS systems that are technically optimal, commercially competitive, and financially defensible. Bridge between commercial proposals and engineering execution. Must be as fluent in PVSyst yield modeling as in the PPA financial model that flows from it.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct site assessments and energy consumption analysis to validate project feasibility
- Design Solar plus BESS hybrid systems — PV sizing, inverter selection, BESS capacity and chemistry, grid interconnection scheme
- Prepare detailed technical proposals and DPRs underpinning all customer agreements
- Build energy yield models using PVSyst or Homer Pro calibrated to local irradiance and loss factors
- Size BESS based on ToD dispatch requirements, peak shaving objectives, backup duration, and degradation assumptions
- Define performance guarantee parameters that flow into the PPA financial model
- Review and approve technical specifications before handover to Procurement
- Support BD Managers during customer technical due diligence and proposal defense

Must-Have Profile

- B.E. or M.E. in Electrical Engineering
- 5–9 years in solar or hybrid energy system design
- AUTOCAD Proficiency




- Proficiency in PVSyst and at least one BESS sizing tool — Homer Pro, MATLAB, or equivalent
- Understanding of BESS chemistry options, BMS specifications, and solar inverter integration requirements
- Knowledge of DISCOM grid interconnection requirements and protection relay principles

Preferred / Bonus

- Experience with hybrid EMS platforms — Schneider EcoStruxure, SMA Fuel Save, or custom
- Knowledge of IEC 62619, IEC 62933, and relevant BIS standards for BESS
- Understanding of how yield assumptions drive IRR outcomes in PPA models

Success Metrics — First 12–24 Months

- Proposal turnaround — target 5 working days from complete site and consumption data
- Yield modeling accuracy — actual generation within plus or minus 5% of modeled in first 12 months
- Technical revision rate after customer review — below 10%
- BESS commissioning performance within plus or minus 3% of specified parameters

Pay: Up to ₹1,500,000.00 per year
