What’s the role
The Maritime Vetting Coordinator role is suited for maritime professionals with oil, chemical, or gas vessel experience who are passionate about safety and keen to contribute during a period of significant industry change.
As part of Shell Shipping & Maritime's Assurance (SAFE) Team, you will use your operational maritime experience to support improvements in safety, environmental performance, compliance, and digitalization. The role offers the opportunity to build expertise in assurance activities and understand their link to commercial risk exposure.
Working within a global team of maritime professionals across Singapore, Rotterdam, London, Houston, and Chennai, you will collaborate with vessel operators worldwide in a diverse and inclusive environment where safety is the highest priority.
You will support the implementation of the Transport Safety Standard and Maritime Safety requirements by coordinating the vetting of internationally trading tankers, dry bulk carriers, and project vessels. The objective is to help ensure Shell does not use or become associated with sub-standard vessels, minimizing risks to people, the setting, Shell's reputation, and the business.
What you’ll be doing
• Play a key role in positively vetting cargo transport vessels in line with the Transport Safety Standard, Maritime Safety requirements, and the Vetting Manual.
• Assist in maintaining established Maritime Assurance procedures and projects.
• Develop and maintain the competence required to support GMAS Vessel Clearance Checks for Deceptive Shipping Practices, working closely with Trade Compliance teams.
• Provide ongoing support for vetting services through collaborative activities across the business.
• Maintain the Group Maritime Assurance System (GMAS) database of ves
