Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a SCADA engineering professional with a strong focus on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to support the design, integration, and commissioning of utility-scale energy storage projects.

This role emphasizes end-to-end SCADA engineering for BESS facilities, including integration with Energy Management Systems (EMS), Battery Management Systems (BMS), Power Conversion Systems (PCS), and utility communication systems.



The candidate will support conceptual and detailed engineering activities including controls architecture, network design, communications, telemetry, data mapping, and system integration across the full project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop engineering design documents and deliverables for SCADA systems supporting BESS projects.

• Design and coordinate SCADA system architecture integrating BMS, EMS, PCS, and PPC systems.

• Develop control narratives, data mapping, alarms, and monitoring strategies.

• Lead and participate in design reviews (30%, 60%, 90%, IFC).

• Coordinate SCADA scope with utility interconnection and grid compliance requirements.

• Support vendor selection, specifications, and design reviews.

• Provide leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.

• Support FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities.

• Perform testing, validation, and troubleshooting during commissioning.
