A Snapshot of Your Day
As the Monitoring & Event Management Process Manager, you will provide hands-on technical leadership and direction for enterprise monitoring, observability, and event-management practice. You will assess existing practices and operational maturity, identify gaps and risks, and define a practical improvement roadmap aligned with business-critical service requirements.
You will collaborate with IT service owners, architects, operations and engineering teams, Incident and Problem Management teams, Cybersecurity, and external service providers.
Your primary responsibility will be to define and document monitoring practices and guidelines, while introducing or supporting the enhancement of forward-looking monitoring solutions for IT services using modern technologies such as AI. These efforts should improve event quality, reduce alert noise, accelerate detection and recovery, enable predictive operations, and support protected automation.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Assess the maturity of current monitoring and event-management practices across processes, people, tools, data, governance, and operating models.
- Identify monitoring coverage gaps, architectural weaknesses, operational risks, recurring failure patterns, alert noise, manual toil, and barriers to effective service visibility.
- Define the target-state architecture, standards, roadmap, and measurable outcomes for monitoring, observability, event management, and AIOps.
- Lead the evaluation, selection, design, integration, and implementation of enterprise grade monitoring & observability solutions covering metrics, logs, traces, events, topology, and digital experience signals.
- Establish service-oriented monitoring by mapping applications,
infrastructure, cloud services, dependencies, and configuration items to business services and service objectives.
- Improve event detection, severity models, thresholds, filtering, deduplication, enrichment, correlation, routing, escalation, and response workflows.
- Introduce AIOps use cases such as anomaly detection, event correlation, probable root-cause analysis, incident summarization, predictive insights, and assisted remediation.
- Integrate monitoring platforms with IT service-management, configuration-management, notification, collaboration, and automation solutions.
- Lead technical workshops, architecture reviews, proofs of concept, product evaluations, vendor engagements, and implementation projects from design through operational handover.
- Define governance, onboarding standards, operating procedures, support models, ownership, documentation, training, and compliance controls.
- Review monitoring outcomes and incident trends regularly, prioritize continual-improvement initiatives, and track benefits such as reduced alert volume, lower mean time to detect and recover, improved coverage, and increased automation.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of experience in IT operations, Dev Ops, SRE, observability, monitoring, or platform engineering, including technical leadership or architecture responsibility.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of metrics, logs, traces, events, synthetic monitoring, real-user monitoring, application performance monitoring, infrastructure monitoring, network monitoring, and service dependency mapping.
- Experience with enterprise observability and monitoring technologies such as Open Telemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic, Splunk, Dynatrace, Datadog, Solar Winds, Azure Monitor, AWS Cloud Watch, or comparable platforms.
- Practical knowledge of SRE principles, including service-level indicators, service-level objectives, error budgets, the four golden signals, reliability reviews, toil reduction, capacity planning, and blameless learning.
- Experience designing or implementing AIOps use cases using machine learning, analytics, or generative AI for anomaly detection, event correlation, root-cause support, prediction, automation, and incident assistance.
- Strong knowledge of cloud and hybrid infrastructure, containers, Kubernetes, microservices, APIs, networking, security, and resilient distributed-system architecture.
- Automation and scripting capability using Python, Power Shell, Bash, REST APIs, webhooks, infrastructure-as-code, configuration management, and CI/CD practices.
- Working knowledge of ITIL practices, particularly Monitoring & Event Management, Incident Management, Availability Management, Capacity & Performance Management, and Continual Improvement.
Qualifications
- Relevant certifications in SRE, Dev Ops, cloud architecture, Kubernetes, ITIL, observability, Service Now, or enterprise monitoring platforms.
- Knowledge of data engineering and analytics platforms for operational telemetry, including scalable storage, stream processing, and data-quality governance.
- Experience working with globally distributed teams and managed-service providers in complex enterprise environments.
Key Competencies
- SRE and Dev Ops Technical Leadership
- Enterprise Monitoring and Observability Architecture
- Monitoring & Event Management Process Governance
- AIOps Strategy and Responsible Automation
- Operational Maturity Assessment and Road mapping
