Detailed Responsibilities

• Design & Engineering Support Design and develop new motor products, including electromagnetic,

mechanical, and thermal design, from initial concept through detailed engineering drawings.

• Perform electromagnetic simulations and calculations (e.g., using tools like ANSYS Maxwell, Motor-CAD)

• Conduct mechanical design of motor components (rotor, stator, shaft, bearings, housing, windings) using CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD).

• Knowledge of winding design, magnet selection (rare earth/ferrite), and thermal management.

• Create and maintain BOMs, engineering drawings, tolerances, and design specifications (GD&T;).

• Testing & Report Develop prototypes and coordinate build, testing, and validation of new motor

designs.

• Analyse test data (performance, thermal, vibration, noise, durability) and iterate designs to meet

specifications.

• Collaborate with manufacturing/process engineers to ensure designs are optimised for production

(DFM/DFA).

• Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards (IEC, NEMA, UL, ISO, etc.)



and safety/regulatory

requirements.

• Create reports of tolerance stack-up analysis and DFM/DFA principles.

• Training & Continuous Improvement Stay current with emerging motor technologies, materials, and

manufacturing techniques.

• Manage or contribute to recent product development (NPD) timelines, milestones, and deliverables.

Required Skills and Competencies:

• Strong understanding of electric motor theory (BLDC, PMSM, stepper motor control) and mechanical gear systems.
• Familiarity with CAD (for understanding designs) and basic FEA/simulation concepts is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with test equipment: dynamometers, power analysers, oscilloscopes, DAQ systems.
• Experience with Six Sigma/DFMEA/FMEA methodologies.
• Prior experience taking a product from concept to mass production.
• Hands-on experience with inspection tools and shop-floor processes.
• Knowledge of relevant industry standards (IEC,
