Designation: Intensivist

Job Summary

Responsible for providing specialised medical care to critically ill patients in the ICU, managing life-threatening conditions, and ensuring high standards of patient safety, clinical care, and treatment outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage critically ill patients requiring intensive monitoring, ventilatory support, and advanced life-support interventions.
- Diagnose and treat medical emergencies, sepsis, shock, respiratory failure, and multi-organ dysfunction.
- Monitor patient progress and develop, implement, and review individualised treatment plans.
- Perform and supervise critical care procedures, including endotracheal intubation, central venous catheterisation, and arterial line insertion, as clinically indicated.
- Coordinate with consultants, surgeons, emergency physicians, nursing teams, and other healthcare professionals.
- Ensure appropriate use of ventilators, monitoring equipment, and critical care resources.
- Maintain accurate medical records, treatment charts, and clinical documentation.
- Follow hospital protocols, infection control practices,



patient safety standards, and applicable NABH requirements.
- Participate in clinical audits, morbidity and mortality reviews, emergency response, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Counsel patients’ relatives regarding clinical condition, treatment plans, prognosis, and progress, as appropriate.

Qualifications

- MBBS with MD/DNB in Anaesthesiology, General Medicine, Respiratory Medicine, or an equivalent recognised postgraduate qualification relevant to critical care.
- DM/FNB in Critical Care Medicine or IDCCM qualification preferred, subject to applicable credentialing requirements.

Experience

- Relevant experience in ICU and critical care management preferred.
- Experience in managing ventilated patients, medical emergencies, and complex critical care cases is desirable.
