Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Provide specialized nursing care to premature, low-birth-weight, and critically ill newborns.
2. Monitor vital signs, oxygen saturation, temperature, and other neonatal clinical parameters.
3. Administer prescribed medications, IV fluids, and feeds as per medical instructions.
4. Operate and monitor incubators, radiant warmers, phototherapy units, and other NICU equipment as trained.
5. Maintain strict infection control practices and aseptic techniques to prevent neonatal infections.
6. Assist doctors during neonatal resuscitation, emergency procedures, and other clinical interventions.
7. Monitor feeding tolerance, intake-output, urine output, and overall neonatal progress.
8. Maintain accurate nursing records, medication charts, and shift handover documentation.
9. Identify and promptly report any deterioration in the newborns condition to the treating doctor.
10. Educate and support parents regarding breastfeeding, kangaroo mother care (KMC), newborn hygiene, and discharge care.
