There is a broad scope to this post within Sense International India (also known as Sense India). In line with strategic plans and policy guidelines of Sense India, the person will work under Centre Manager in planning and implementation of agreed objectives/issue. S/he will also participate in and contribute towards development of wider institutional strategy. Responsibilities

Working with Students with Deafblindness/Multiple Disabilities (Db/MD)

- To carry out holistic assessment of the students with Db/MD to find out their current functioning level in all the areas through appropriate tools and methods.
- Planning and implementing intervention strategies for each student with Db/MD.
- To carry out one to one and or small group teaching/skill building activities.
- Prepare individual or group timetable/schedule for students with Db/MD.
- To prepare need based teaching learning materials.
- Actively support students with Db/MD in identifying and participating in a wide range of enjoyable, stimulating and purposeful activities that make for a good quality of life.
- Preparing reports and documentation about the activities being implemented.
- Support families and caregivers to follow suggestions and effectively teach/train their ward with Db/MD for holistic development.

Programmes related activities - Content Support

- Planning, preparing, evaluating and reviewing an Individualised Educational Programme (IEP) for each student with Db/MD.
- Undertake sensitisation/training sessions on Db/MD for a wide range of stakeholders if necessary.
- Develop individual need based and group curriculum.
- Contribute to regular case studies of students with Db/MD.
- Support in creating awareness about persons with Db/MD.
- Conduct meetings with caregivers.
- Plan outings/field trips for students with Db/MD.




- Should be willing to provide training/educational services at home based settings as and when required.

Other Requirements

- Sign up to Sense India s safeguarding policy, including child and vulnerable adults protection policies.
- Should work without any discrimination and prejudice with students and colleagues of various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds.
- Draft content matter for in-house publications.
- Coordinate with centre lead, team members and other departments on content issues.
- Support in the overall administration and smooth functioning of the centre.
- Willingness to learn from others and have smooth communication with co-workers and caregivers.
- Any other work as agreed with the Centre Manager.

Qualification

- Ideally a graduate in the field of disability such as in Visual Impairment, Hearing Impairment, Intellectual Disabilities, Multiple Disabilities. However, preference will be given to graduates (any stream) with Diploma or higher education in Db/MD.
- Able to analyse the situations and adopt effective course of action.
- Takes initiative and offer new ideas.
- Operate a computer and MS office programs.
- Should know Sign language, Braille, and other communication methods to work effectively with students with Db/MD.
- Should have a valid registration certificate from RCI.

Desirable

- Preferably have prior experience working with children and adults with disabilities for a minimum of two years.
- Willing to travel locally and nationally.
- Aware of various assistive devices used by students with Db/MD.
- Good interpersonal skills to work with people at all levels.
- Written and spoken communication skills in English and Kannada, knowledge of other languages will be added advantage.
- Able to manage time and meet deadlines.
- Personal commitment to improving ones own knowledge and skills.
