In easy terms, this is a business finance and controllership role. You need someone who understands accounting, budgets, financial controls, audits, and business operations not just someone who prepares financial statements.

The candidate should be capable of working with business heads, reviewing spending approvals, identifying financial risks, and ensuring that the company's money is accounted for and spent correctly.

What the candidate will actually do

Financial reporting

Prepare and review financial reports, revenue, costs, and management MIS.

Reconciliation

Match customer/vendor accounts, billing and collections, and resolve differences.

Budgeting and forecasting

Prepare budgets, track actual spending, and explain why costs are higher or lower than planned.

Financial analysis

Evaluate profitability, business proposals, investments, and cost-saving opportunities.

Internal controls

Ensure financial approvals, policies, and compliance are followed; prevent errors and fraud.

Business partnering

Work with business, procurement, tax, IT/digital, and commercial teams on financial matters.





Capex and Opex

Check whether purchases and expenditure are within approved budgets.

Audit and compliance

Handle audits, intercompany settlements, and Related Party Transactions (RPTs).

What do Capex, Opex and RPT mean?

Capex: Money spent on long-term assets, such as equipment, infrastructure, or technology.

Opex: Regular operating expenses, such as rent, salaries, utilities, and maintenance.

RPT: Transactions between related entities or parties, which require appropriate approvals, disclosures, and controls.

MIS: Management Information System reports used to track business and financial performance.

TDS: Tax Deducted at Source, which needs correct accounting and reconciliation.

My interpretation of the seniority: This is a hands-on Senior Manager role combining financial control with business partnering. The candidate should be comfortable both reviewing numbers and challenging business teams when a transaction or expense does not make financial sense.
