Job Title: VMC Setter. Department: Production / Machine Shop. Location: Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Experience: 3-8 Years. Qualification: ITI / Diploma Mechanical preferred. Employment Type: Full-Time.

Job Purpose: To set up and operate Vertical Machining Centre (VMC) machines for manufacturing precision components as per engineering drawings, CNC programs, and production requirements while ensuring dimensional accuracy, quality, productivity, and safety.

Responsibilities

- Set up VMC machines for different components as per production requirements.
- Read and understand engineering drawings, component drawings, and work instructions.
- Select and install appropriate cutting tools, holders, collets, fixtures, and work-holding devices.
- Load, verify, and make necessary corrections to CNC programs.
- Set and adjust work offsets.
- Set and adjust tool offsets.
- Set and adjust tool length compensation.
- Set and adjust wear offsets.
- Set and adjust work coordinates.
- Set and adjust cutting parameters.
- Perform job setting, tool setting, and component alignment accurately.
- Conduct first-piece inspection and ensure dimensions are within specified tolerances.
- Operate VMC machines and monitor the machining process during production.
- Identify and rectify machining problems such as: dimensional variation, tool wear, burrs, poor surface finish, tool breakage, chatter and vibration.
- Use measuring instruments such as Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge, Bore Gauge, and other inspection instruments.
- Make necessary tool offset and parameter corrections to maintain component quality.
- Coordinate with Quality, Production, Tool Room, and Maintenance teams for process-related issues.
- Monitor tool life and replace worn or damaged tools as required.
- Maintain production output according to the daily/shift production plan.




- Minimize rejection, rework, tool consumption, and material wastage.
- Maintain machine cleanliness and follow 5S and housekeeping standards.
- Follow all required safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Record production, inspection, tool, and machine-related information as required.
- Support recent component development, trial production, and process improvement activities.
- Guide VMC operators/helpers on machine operation and basic process requirements when required.

Preferred Experience

- Experience in CNC/VMC machining of precision components
- Experience in job setting and tool setting
- Experience with different materials such as MS, EN-series steels, SS, aluminium, and cast components is preferred.
- Experience with Fanuc / Mitsubishi / Siemens or similar CNC controls is preferred.
