Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Telephone Operator role based at The Leela Palace Chennai.

The Telephone

Operator is responsible for professionally answering, connecting, and managing internal and external calls through the hotel’s switchboard system. Daily tasks include responding to guest inquiries, routing calls to the appropriate departments, recording and relaying messages accurately, and providing basic information about hotel services and facilities. The role also involves coordinating wake-up calls, handling emergency or priority calls according to established protocols,



and maintaining clear communication with front office and other operational teams.

The Telephone

Operator is expected to follow hotel communication standards, uphold guest privacy, and support an efficient, courteous, and seamless guest experience.

Qualifications

- Demonstrated proficiency in phone etiquette and courteous call handling.
- Experience as a switchboard operator or working with switchboard systems.
- Background in customer support, preferably in hospitality or service-oriented environments.
- Robust verbal communication skills and clear, professional speaking style.
- Ability to remain calm and organized while handling multiple calls and tasks.
- Basic computer literacy and familiarity with hotel or call management software is an advantage.
- Prior experience in hotels or front office operations is preferred but not mandatory.
- High school diploma or equivalent; hospitality-related training or certification is a plus.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as required by hotel operations.
