TechLead / Manager
Location: Thane
About the Role
We’re looking for a Tech Lead / Manager who is equally comfortable writing production code and leading a team. You’ll balance hands-on technical contribution, architecture, code reviews, and occasionally shipping features yourself with people leadership: mentoring engineers, driving delivery, and shaping technical direction.
What You’ll Do
- Write, review, and maintain production-quality code alongside the team (not just in theory — you’ll ship when needed)
- Lead technical design and architecture decisions for your team’s area
- Manage, mentor, and grow a team of engineers, including 1:1s, career development, and performance feedback
- Own sprint planning, delivery timelines, and cross-functional coordination with Product/Design
- Set and enforce engineering best practices: code quality, testing, CI/CD, documentation
- Balance short-term delivery with long-term technical health of the codebase
- Act as a bridge between engineering and leadership/stakeholders on scope, risk, and tradeoffs
What We’re Looking For
- 5–6+ years of software engineering experience, with 1+ years in a tech lead or people-management capacity
- Strong hands-on coding ability in [fullstack, java etc] — able to jump into the codebase and unblock the team
- Proven experience leading a small-to-mid-size engineering team (hiring, mentoring, performance management)
- Solid grasp of system design, scalability, and architecture tradeoffs
- Experience owning delivery: sprint planning,
estimation, prioritization
- Excellent communication skills — able to translate between technical detail and business context
- Bonus: experience scaling a team, working in a startup/rapid-paced environment, or owning a product area end-to-end
What Success Looks Like (First 6 Months)
- Established as a trusted technical decision-maker on the team
- Team velocity and code quality metrics stable or improving
- Direct reports have clear growth plans and regular feedback
- Demonstrated ability to step in and code when priorities demand it
