About Deskimo

Deskimo (YC S21) gives people instant access to thousands of workspaces without a membership. Users open the app, pick a coworking space, café-style lounge, hotel workspace or meeting room, check in with a QR code and pay only for the time they use.

We operate across Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, the UAE and Saudi Arabia, and we’re expanding into Europe (Switzerland, Germany, Portugal). Companies use Deskimo to run hybrid teams without long leases. Workspace operators use it to fill unused capacity with zero fixed cost.

We’re building more than a booking app. Deskimo is becoming the infrastructure layer for flexible workspace access: marketplace, autonomous check-in, operator tooling, enterprise controls and APIs that distribute workspace inventory to other platforms.

The role

We’re hiring a remote Software Engineer to build and scale the backend that powers this. You’ll work in a small, senior team where you own features end to end, from API design to production, and see the impact in real usage within days.

What you’ll work on

- Designing and building REST APIs and backend services for our mobile apps, operator dashboard and enterprise platform
- Building integrations with workspace operators, calendar providers, access systems and distribution partners
- Booking, pricing, per-minute billing and payment flows that have to be correct every time
- QR-based check-in/check-out and the access logic behind it
- Improving performance,



reliability and observability as we add countries and partners
- Reviewing code, writing clear documentation and shaping how we build as the team grows
- Working directly with product and design on what to build next, not just how

What we’re looking for

- 3+ years building backend systems for web or mobile products in production
- Strong experience with TypeScript/Node.js, Python or Go, and a contemporary framework in that stack
- Solid API design skills (REST, ideally some GraphQL or webhooks experience)
- Good knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL or MySQL): schema design, query performance, migrations
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or GCP), Docker and CI/CD
- Comfortable integrating third-party APIs and handling the messy edge cases that come with them
- Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms and system design
- Self-directed and reliable in a remote, async team; clear written English

Nice to have

- Marketplace, booking, payments or fintech experience
- Experience with Stripe or similar payment providers
- Mobile backend experience (React Native or Flutter clients)
- Previous startup or high-growth experience
