Customer-aligned requirement | React, TypeScript and Micro-Frontend Engineering
Target profile: Senior / Lead-capable engineer with strong React and TypeScript fundamentals, practical micro-frontend understanding, unit-testing capability, and end-to-end production ownership.
Role Summary The Senior Front-End Developer will build scalable, production-ready web applications and take ownership of features from solution design through release and operational support. The role requires strong hands-on React and TypeScript skills, sound front-end architecture knowledge, and the ability to communicate technical decisions clearly and work independently across engineering disciplines.
Mandatory Technical Skills
- Strong hands-on proficiency in React, React Hooks, reusable component design, and component-driven architecture.
- Strong TypeScript and modern JavaScript (ES6+) capability, with solid HTML5 and CSS3 fundamentals.
- Practical understanding of micro-frontend architecture, preferably including Webpack Module Federation. Candidates with exceptional React and TypeScript strength may be considered where they can demonstrate readiness to learn and apply the pattern quickly.
- Solid knowledge of front-end architecture and React patterns, including modular design, code splitting, lazy loading, performance optimization, scalability, and maintainability.
- Experience with scalable state-management approaches, including Redux, Redux Toolkit, Context API, or equivalent patterns.
- Ability to build responsive, mobile-first, accessible, and cross-browser-compatible user interfaces.
- Ability to write meaningful unit tests. Experience with Jest and React Testing Library, or comparable frameworks, is expected.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills using browser developer tools, performance profilers, tracing, and systematic root-cause analysis.
Engineering Ownership and Production Readiness
- Own initiatives end to end, from requirements and solution-architect discussions through implementation, testing, production release, and post-release support.
- Write clean, maintainable,
secure, and production-oriented code while following agreed architectural patterns and engineering standards.
- Understand and use feature flags, environment variables, application configuration, utilization monitoring, data tracing, observability, and user analytics.
- Understand how applications move across development, test, release, and production environments. Direct ownership of deployment tooling is not mandatory.
- Apply performance optimization techniques and assess application behavior using Chrome DevTools, React profiling, browser performance tooling, or equivalent tools.
- Demonstrate independent delivery, sound technical judgement, and the ability to explain implementation choices and trade-offs.
Micro-Frontend and Practical Exercise Expectations
- Be able to build a simple static micro-frontend application and explain the architecture without depending on existing business logic or APIs.
- Be able to fetch and render data in a React application and structure the solution using appropriate components, state, error handling, and tests.
- Demonstrate the ability to validate, troubleshoot, and simplify an implementation rather than relying uncritically on generated guidance.
- Explain how independently deployable front-end modules can be integrated, versioned, tested, and operated within a broader application.
Testing Expectations
- Unit testing is mandatory for this senior-level role.
- Integration-testing experience is desirable.
- Cypress, BDD, and broader automation-testing expertise are useful but are not mandatory selection criteria.
Collaboration and Code Quality
- Work effectively with solution architects, designers, backend engineers, QA, product teams, and other stakeholders.
- Use Git workflows confidently,
including branching, merging, pull requests, code review, and conflict resolution.
- Clearly articulate technical reasoning, design decisions, risks, assumptions, and trade-offs.
- Contribute to front-end standards, reusable patterns, engineering best practices, and continuous improvement.
- Mentor or support other engineers where required and contribute at a senior or lead-capable level.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with Sass, Less, or another CSS pre-processor.
- Experience with CMS platforms.
- Exposure to analytics libraries or platforms such as Adobe or Google solutions.
- Experience with CI/CD concepts, application monitoring, telemetry, and production support.
- Good visual judgement and understanding of UI and UX design principles.
Candidate Screening Guidance
- Prioritize candidates who strongly demonstrate React and TypeScript capability and can independently complete practical coding exercises.
- Validate micro-frontend understanding through practical implementation or a explicit explanation of the pattern and its trade-offs.
- Confirm unit-testing experience and request examples of tests written for components, hooks, state, and asynchronous behavior.
- Assess whether the candidate has taken features from early design discussions through production and can describe operational considerations.
- Target candidates who meet approximately 8090% of the overall expectations, without compromising the mandatory engineering fundamentals.
