Reporting To: Quality Control Engineer / Quality Manager
Experience: 2–5 years in quality inspection, preferably in air filter manufacturing, HVAC filters, cleanroom products, or related manufacturing industries.
1. JOB OBJECTIVE
To ensure the quality and conformity of Pre Filters, Fine Filters, and HEPA Filters at every stage of manufacturing, from incoming raw materials to finished goods dispatch. The QC Inspector shall conduct inspections and tests, maintain accurate quality records, ensure batch traceability, identify non-conformities, and prepare quality documentation in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, customer requirements, and applicable standards.
1. KEY RESPONSIBILITIESA. Incoming Raw Material Inspection
- Inspect incoming filter media, aluminium/GI/SS frames, GI wire mesh, expanded metal, separators, gaskets, sealants, adhesives, and other purchased components.
- Verify material specifications, dimensions, thickness, grade, quantity, and physical condition against approved purchase specifications.
- Verify supplier test certificates, material test certificates (MTCs), and certificates of conformity, wherever applicable.
- Check filter media identification, roll width, batch number, and visible defects.
- Record inspection results and identify accepted, rejected, or quarantined materials.
- Ensure rejected materials are properly identified and segregated.
B. In-Process Quality Inspection 1. Pre Filter Manufacturing
- Inspect filter media cutting dimensions and frame fabrication.
- Verify wire mesh, expanded metal, and protective screen installation.
- Check pleating, stitching, bonding, sealing, and assembly quality, as applicable to the product design.
- Verify frame dimensions, squareness, rigidity, and joint quality.
- Inspect gasket fitment and ensure proper sealing.
2. Fine Filter Manufacturing
- Inspect filter media identification, cutting, pleating, and pack dimensions.
- Check pleat spacing, pack uniformity, separator arrangement, and media damage.
- Verify frame dimensions, bonding, potting, and sealing.
- Inspect gasket installation and check for gaps, deformation, and visible defects.
- Ensure conformity with approved drawings and product specifications.
3. HEPA Filter Manufacturing
- Verify the approved filter media grade and traceability.
- Inspect media pack formation, pleat spacing, separator arrangement, and pack dimensions.
- Check frame dimensions, squareness, rigidity, and assembly quality.
- Inspect potting, sealant application, curing, and bonding.
- Verify gasket dimensions, seating, and continuity.
- Check for visible media damage, sealant voids, frame damage, and other defects.
- Ensure each HEPA filter is identified with the correct product code, batch number, and serial number, as applicable.
- Coordinate specialized efficiency and leak testing with trained personnel.
C. Finished Goods Inspection and Testing Perform final inspection according to the approved inspection and test plan (ITP).
Common inspection parameters
- Overall length, width, depth, and dimensional tolerances.
- Frame material, thickness, and construction.
- Filter media grade and identification.
- Pleat uniformity and media pack integrity.
- Bonding, sealant application, and gasket condition.
- Workmanship, cleanliness, and visual appearance.
- Product label, batch number, serial number, and rating details.
Pre Filters
- Verify dimensions, media condition, frame rigidity, and assembly quality.
- Check airflow and initial pressure drop against the approved specification, where required.
Fine Filters
- Verify dimensions, media pack uniformity, sealing, and gasket fitment.
- Record airflow and initial pressure drop.
- Verify filtration efficiency or classification against the applicable product specification and approved test method.
HEPA Filters
- Verify dimensions, construction, sealing, and identification.
- Record airflow and initial pressure drop.
- Conduct or coordinate aerosol leak testing using an approved PAO or other specified aerosol method.
- Use a calibrated aerosol photometer and scanning probe for leak testing when required by the approved test procedure.
- Verify overall filtration efficiency using the specified test method when required.
- Record test parameters, results, acceptance criteria, and equipment calibration status.
- Ensure each filter passes the applicable acceptance criteria before release.
Important: HEPA leak testing and overall efficiency testing are different checks. A filter passing a leak test does not, by itself, establish its overall filtration efficiency classification. D. Quality Documentation and Record Maintenance
Prepare, verify, and maintain the following documents:
- Incoming Material Inspection Report (IMIR).
