We are looking for a Python Backend Engineer with strong programming fundamentals and hands-on experience developing backend services, APIs, and data processing workflows.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with Python-based microservices, asynchronous processing, task scheduling, SQL databases, and data pipelines. The role involves building and maintaining independent backend services, handling concurrent requests, processing data efficiently, and ensuring the reliability and performance of backend systems.

We are looking for an engineer who enjoys solving backend engineering challenges, writing clean code, and debugging complex issues.

Key Responsibilities:

- Python Backend Development: Design, develop, and maintain backend applications and REST APIs using Python and frameworks such as FastAPI or Flask.
- Microservices Development: Build and maintain independent backend services, implement service-to-service communication, and ensure reliable integration between components.
- Distributed Systems: Develop and support services that handle concurrent requests, service failures, timeouts, retries, and distributed processing workflows.
- Asynchronous Processing & Task Scheduling: Implement asynchronous operations, background jobs, scheduled tasks, and task queues using Celery or equivalent frameworks.
- Data Ingestion & ETL Pipelines: Develop data processing workflows to extract, transform, validate, and load data while ensuring accuracy and reliability.
- Database Development: Write and optimize SQL queries, manage database interactions, and integrate backend services with PostgreSQL, AlloyDB, or other SQL databases.
- Redis & Caching:



Implement caching and appropriate data access strategies to reduce database/API load and improve application performance.
- Problem Solving & Debugging: Investigate backend issues, analyze logs, identify root causes, resolve edge cases, and optimize application performance.
- Containerization & Deployment: Work with Docker to package backend services and support consistent deployments across environments.
- Cloud & Version Control: Support application deployments and troubleshooting on AWS or GCP, use Git for version control, and collaborate through code reviews.

Mandatory Skills & Qualifications

- Python Backend Development: 1–3 years of hands-on experience developing backend applications and REST APIs using Python, preferably with FastAPI or Flask.
- Microservices: Practical understanding of independent backend services, REST APIs, and service-to-service communication.
- Asynchronous Processing & Concurrency: Familiarity with asynchronous execution, concurrent requests, and non-blocking I/O using asyncio, async/await, or equivalent approaches.
- Task Scheduling & Background Processing: Understanding of background jobs, scheduled tasks, and asynchronous workflows using Celery or equivalent technologies.
- SQL & Database Integration: Working knowledge of SQL and experience with PostgreSQL, AlloyDB, or another SQL database.
- ETL & Data Processing: Exposure to data ingestion, extraction, transformation, validation, or data pipeline development.
- Distributed Systems Fundamentals: Understanding of service communication, error handling, retries, timeouts,



and handling failures across backend services.
- Redis & Caching: Basic understanding of caching and its role in improving application performance is preferred.
- Docker & Cloud Fundamentals: Familiarity with containerization and basic exposure to AWS or GCP environments.
- Problem Solving & Debugging: Strong analytical skills, ability to troubleshoot backend issues, identify root causes, handle edge cases, and write maintainable code.
