Job Summary

Amity University, Kolkata, is seeking an accomplished and experienced Professor in Pharmacognosy to contribute to teaching, research, academic leadership, and curriculum development. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in pharmacognosy, natural products research, medicinal plants, and phytochemistry, along with a proven record of academic excellence and research contributions.

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver lectures and conduct practical sessions in Pharmacognosy and related pharmaceutical sciences subjects.
- Teach topics such as phytochemistry, medicinal plants, herbal drug technology, natural products, and quality evaluation of crude drugs.
- Lead and supervise research projects in pharmacognosy, phytochemistry, herbal medicines, and natural product development.
- Guide Ph.D. scholars, postgraduate students, and undergraduate students in research and academic projects.
- Publish research papers in reputed peer-reviewed journals and contribute to books, patents, and other scholarly outputs.
- Develop and update curriculum, laboratory protocols, teaching materials, and assessment methods.
- Lead research initiatives, secure research grants, and establish collaborations with academic institutions and industry.
- Ensure compliance with applicable academic, laboratory safety, and regulatory standards.
- Participate in academic administration, faculty development, seminars, conferences, and institutional activities.




- Mentor faculty members and contribute to departmental growth and research excellence.

Eligibility Criteria
- Ph.D. in Pharmacognosy or a relevant pharmaceutical sciences specialization.
- Relevant postgraduate qualification in Pharmacy, preferably M.Pharm. in Pharmacognosy, as required under applicable PCI and UGC regulations.
- Substantial teaching and research experience in a recognized university or institution.
- Robust record of research publications, scholarly contributions, and research supervision, in accordance with applicable eligibility requirements.
- Demonstrated expertise in pharmacognosy, phytochemistry, herbal drug research, and natural product studies.
- Excellent communication, academic leadership, and mentoring skills.

Preferred Skills
- Expertise in medicinal plant identification, extraction, isolation, and characterization of phytoconstituents.
- Knowledge of herbal drug standardization, quality control, and evaluation of natural products.
- Familiarity with modern analytical techniques and relevant laboratory instrumentation.
- Experience in research project management, grant applications, patents, and interdisciplinary collaborations.
- Ability to establish and lead research initiatives in herbal medicines and natural product development.
