Production Supervisor – Medical & Industrial Gases

1. Job Purpose To supervise day-to-day production and gas-filling operations, ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, maintain production efficiency, and support the safe and timely manufacturing and filling of medical and industrial gases.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Production & Gas-Filling Operations

- Supervise daily production activities, gas filling, cylinder handling, and associated plant operations.
- Plan shift-wise production activities according to production schedules and customer requirements.
- Monitor filling operations, cylinder movement, and equipment performance.
- Ensure optimal utilization of manpower, equipment, raw materials, and other production resources.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to minimize downtime and resolve equipment-related issues.

B. Safety & Regulatory Compliance

- Ensure compliance with applicable safety procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and statutory requirements.
- Enforce safe cylinder handling, storage, segregation, identification, and movement practices.
- Ensure appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to permit-to-work procedures wherever applicable.
- Report unsafe conditions, incidents, near misses, and equipment abnormalities promptly.
- Support safety inspections, risk assessments, emergency drills, and corrective-action implementation.
- Ensure applicable requirements under PESO and other relevant regulatory frameworks are followed, as applicable to the facility and products.

C. Quality Control & Medical Gas Requirements

- Coordinate with the Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) team to ensure that filling operations meet approved specifications.
- Ensure cylinders are checked for identification, condition, test validity, and suitability before filling.
- Maintain proper segregation and identification of medical and industrial gases to prevent mix-ups and contamination.
- Ensure required sampling, testing, labeling,



batch documentation, and release procedures are completed as applicable.
- Ensure medical gases are released only after the required quality checks and authorization.

D. Manpower & Shift Management

- Allocate work to operators, helpers, and other production personnel.
- Monitor attendance, shift handovers, discipline, and workforce productivity.
- Train employees on operating procedures, cylinder handling, safety practices, and emergency response.
- Identify skill gaps and support continuous improvement in team performance.

E. Documentation & Inventory

- Maintain daily production reports, gas-filling records, shift logs, and equipment checklists.
- Monitor cylinder stock, raw materials, consumables, and production-related inventory.
- Maintain traceability records for cylinders, batches, and filling activities wherever required.
- Report production output, rejection, downtime, safety incidents, and deviations to the reporting manager.

F. Coordination & Continuous Improvement

- Coordinate with QA/QC, maintenance, stores, dispatch, and logistics teams.
- Ensure production targets and dispatch schedules are achieved without compromising safety or quality.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce wastage, and minimize operational downtime.
- Support internal audits, external inspections, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.

3. Educational Qualifications

- Diploma or bachelor's degree in mechanical, Chemical, Production, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Relevant technical qualifications combined with strong practical experience may also be considered.

4. Experience Required

- Approximately 3–7 years of experience in production, plant operations, or manufacturing supervision.




- Experience in medical or industrial gas manufacturing, gas filling, cylinder handling, or high-pressure systems is preferred.
- Experience in a regulated manufacturing workplace and safety-critical operations will be an advantage.

5. Technical Skills & Competencies

- Knowledge of gas-filling operations and cylinder-handling practices.
- Understanding of industrial safety, PPE, SOPs, and emergency procedures.
- Familiarity with production planning, shift management, and shop-floor supervision.
- Ability to maintain production records and prepare shift reports.
- Knowledge of quality control procedures and cylinder traceability.
- Strong leadership, communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

6. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Performance may be evaluated based on:

- Achievement of production and filling targets.
- Compliance with safety procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Product quality, documentation accuracy, and traceability.
- Equipment uptime and reduction in avoidable downtime.
- Manpower productivity and shift discipline.
- Inventory accuracy and reduction in process losses.
- Timely completion of corrective actions and audit observations.

7. Working Conditions

- Full-time, on-site role at the gas manufacturing facility in Pune (Chakan).
- Work in a manufacturing environment involving gas-filling equipment, cylinders, and high-pressure systems.
- Shift duties, including rotational shifts, may be required depending on production schedules.
